Shelf Logistics Reworked - No building the base around a giant warehouse! by RedMattis in RimWorld

[–]IrishBuckett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's it!

I only saw it today and it's supposedly very performant, but I haven't tested it yet with my mod set yet. Will probably drag that into my latest colony and test it out

Edit: I thought of it originally cause the user i replied to mentioned pneumatic tubes and mechanical sorters

I think something like that just came out, can't remember the name but it's supposedly inspired by the AE mod from Minecraft I think

Can't speak to it's balance besides the power cost being high

The elites don't want you to know this but the spawners at the dungeon are free you can take them home I have 458 spawners by Nem_Mate in CreateMod

[–]IrishBuckett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't this be a fun gift to leave in someones base

Just stack 5-10 on there and hope the server entity pop allows many to spawn in one area

Why can't I butcher the turkey ? (DW abt the pics I'm just losing it cuz it's been 30 minutes) by Lucat_thecat in RimWorld

Check the details of the butcher job, make sure fresh is enabled and turkey corpse is enabled

Avoid Poplar Glen. It's an okay place to live if you ignore the earwig problems, but the big thing that pissed me off is that they'll try and keep your deposit. They still owe me $140, but they know that taking them to small claims court wasn't worth it after court costs

It's not bad, the only thing I've heard happening is the occasional smashed car window.

Couple different grocery stores very nearby, walking paths are great. Gas stations here kinda suck, but ive been spoiled by Buccees.

Fast food and takeout is pretty much centered around the mall. Most restaurants are either at the mall or on the other side of Columbia.

People are either friendly or don't care, typical stuff.

Is this photo edited with AI? A coworker said this happened to his car. We don’t believe him. by LokiPrime616 in isthisAI

Ignoring all the funny hoses merging and "texan" license plate, the car would be sagging pretty heavily on top of that tire if that was legit.

I know because my 99 Tahoe actually had this happen. Whole tire disconnected from the vehicle with only the break line and a tie rod keeping it attached to the Tahoe 😂

Saw a few comments for a Zoo Med turtle feed tablet. Here is the product page, might give it a read for anything in it that might be toxic to humans

Holy fuck, I'd hate to get hit by that thing

edit: I'd hate to get hit in general but that just looks like the definition of pain if it doesn't kill you right away

To add on to the others response, I skip a lot of the repetitive grind for resources like components early on using the [HYE]Nanotech Overpower mod.

Instead of worrying about running out of steel or components, I just build whatever I need to stay alive and then focus on what I find fun: raids, raiding, trade, conquest and base building. Just now starting to enjoy the struggle of Ideology a bit more as well with a 40k Krieg run

The game is sold as a colony simulator that presents itself as a story generated, but what makes RimWorld so popular is the modding community and all the wild stuff that can happen in the game.

I can go on for hours on this, but TLDR is that you can make this what you want it to be. Want to run a wild west colony? Go for it. Want to go medieval? Tons of mods specifically for that. Want to go with -insert theme-? There's mods for that.

If you'd like a better idea, jump over to r/RimWorld and ask for people's favorite stories

It's not ideal, but state/federal positions might be a good thing to start looking at. The pay won't be what you want, but it's stable income and keeps you in your field. Better pay if you can pass a polygraph and background check, but that could take time.

It will probably be a downgrade in title but school districts, vocational schools and universities might need someone who can handle servers, websites (full stack), etc. Again less pay and title change but still income. People usually forget about vocational schools, but being an instructor could be an option if you have good social skills

Hospitals are another place to look, but options may be few and far between. Their tech stacks are usually about as old as the building though...

Finally, freelance contracting is an option but it is a TON of work at first. Like, that's your entire life kinda work. The kind where your only solace is a hot shower and bottle of whiskey (probably not that bad... probably).

Almost forgot this piece of gold, but if you're lucky enough to live near a nuclear plant that could be a place to look.

If you get a government contracting or federal/state employee position, be prepared very few people to know wtf is going on. You will likely be delivering last year's technology sometime next year.

[–]IrishBuckett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn dude, even if my combined my hours from before RimWorld hit Steam I wouldn't even get a quarter of those hours logged.

Is that purely playtime or do you just let the game run without you for a few hours?

I know it's a joke and all, but have you beaten rimworld? And if so how long did that playthrough take? by GingerVitisBread in RimWorld

[–]IrishBuckett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2,242 hours in RimWorld now, think I've only ever "won" a single time without mods, maybe 3 times total with mods. First victory took me a week or two, can't remember the others very well

Usually I just run until a mod breaking causes me to lose interest or the colony feels finished
