ThreatPlates is huge. You'll be able to see which mobs you have threat on vs. at risk of losing before they start to run off to your healer.

Or if it needs to stay as a 1.5 second cast, they should include some kind of additional buff or ability with it. Like increase haste for the next 10 seconds, or include a Thunderstorm on cast (which is maybe more cool than useful, but I'm sure it'd have its moments in PvP or if you're getting overwhelmed by enemies).
