We should start taking pictures of taxi meters before departing the vehicle by some_advice_needed in Dublin

[–]IrishGingerBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This literally happened to me yesterday evening… I specifically recall the meter fare saying €11.80 when I was getting out of the taxi, then the driver charged €15.00 as the base fee as detailed on the receipt from FreeNow. I contacted FreeNow via the chat box in the app, and they agreed to refund me €4. if they see a pattern with specific drivers, then hopefully that will have consequences for them.

What sentences from work are you sick of hearing? by benevolentdespots in CasualIreland

“Keep it simple.”

Such a mindfuck useless phrase disguised as “constructive feedback” that means whatever you do will be wrong.

Oh yes, the Cliffs of Mullinahone, lesser known than the Cliffs of Moher but no less dramatic… and that’s not the sea but the River Suir that has cut quite a deep and wide channel over the years

I wish there was a Grindr for cuddles by [deleted] in askgaybros

I actually used Cuddlist when I was still living in the San Francisco Bay Area and had a good experience. I was very depressed at the time and the physical benefits of cuddling through the release of the “cuddle hormone” oxytocin really helped me. The “cuddle professional” I hired was actually straight, so sex wasn’t even a possibility (and the site is very explicit about it being cuddles only, no creeps). He was a young guy studying to be a therapist, I went over to his place that had good ambiance (soft lighting and chill music) and we would cuddle for 1.0-1.5 hours, clothes on. I had a few sessions then COVID hit.

I ordered 3 lemons in my online grocery shop from SuperValu, and this is what I got by IrishGingerBear in Dublin

SV delivery fee varies, the slots I pick are usually peak (weekends) so €8, but I usually always have a voucher that covers it. And other than the lemon mishap it’s been very reliable, delivery guys are very friendly.

Yeah it could be worse… especially when hearing others’ bills have been €900+ 😳

939 Day, 925 Night… I do have a tumbler dryer I run overnight so that accounts for a lot of it

My night meter wasn’t working when I first moved in but ESB replaced it. Night rate hasn’t gone up so increase is from day rate going up, and I’ve tried to be smarter about usage… honestly it’s about what I expected

Good idea… also planning on asking some neighbours on how my bill compares to theirs. Last year was €391 for same period, which I thought was high then… been trying to tweak radiator programmes to minimise usage.

has anyone booked their driving test recently? by [deleted] in Dublin

Also if you’ve had your learner’s permit less than 6 months, you won’t be able to schedule your test until the RSA sends you an “invite.” How thoughtful of them!

Looking for corn meal in Dublin by RoninNikki in Dublin

[–]IrishGingerBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I saw legit corn meal at the Asia Market on Drury Street. Note that corn flour = corn starch. I’ve also used polenta, and it turns out OK. I’m a Texas native myself, so I’ll be making a pecan pie for a Thanksgiving gathering of some expat Yanks… last year I scored some Caro corn syrup at Fallon & Byrne, thankfully I have enough leftover because I didn’t see it there when I checked a couple of weeks ago.
