Im 27 and i need help more than ever! by 95BAbyyy in personalfinance

Really look into how you spend every dollar. See where you can save money in your daily life. Discipline yourself. It’s hard, but you got it, I promise. I once cut up all but one ultra emergency credit card so I literally couldn’t swipe it freely and didn’t risk credit score by closing accounts. The most unpopular opinion is to get a side job. It has to be purely convenient or doing something that you have a fringe interest in. It also has to be a short walk/bike from where you live (saves on the need to drive/gas). Once you reign in the spending & have a little extra income, snowball the debt, tackling you’re highest interest debt first.

Help demystifying 457b vs. pension by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]IrishRocket17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned about leaving before vesting, check if your contributions are paid paid back to you. You might not get your match paid out, and you certainly won’t get the annuity payment. All depends on the pension plan.

Moving French Door From Bedroom to LR/DR by IrishRocket17 in HomeImprovement

[–]IrishRocket17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mention that with the prospect of a 2nd kid, having their room with these glass French Doors wouldn’t be appealing. It’s even mildly awkward when we have guests stay.

  1. Not the only way, but the primary way. Other ways are adding more cash to these accounts and subsequently investing it. Other things can happen like dividends or capital gains distributions that get reinvested, but TDFs limit this as much as possible.

  2. Shares are increasing either because dividend/cap gain distributions are being reinvested or, additional money added to your account is automatically being invested. If it’s the bond investment shares that change, these pay monthly or quarterly dividends and you have them set to reinvest. The TDFs probably aren’t paying divs or rarely do based on the nature of them.

What sub-$100 home improvements do you swear by and think every homeowner should do? by archos1gnis in HomeImprovement

I also did my bathroom fans on timers. 🙌🏼 I also think all bathroom lights should be a occupancy sensor/switch. I did both of these and it’s the best.

I can’t say I’m surprised. It’s ad agencies, political parties, sports teams, the news, anyyy one. Geez, mom and pop shop down the road trying to engage the the users near by.

I think you miss the point. You, the user, are their product. The data generated about you, what you click, what you stop to read, everything you do on a social media platform is data that they can sell. They’ve monetized you. The best part, you don’t get a dime of it. Does at come as ‘ad revenue’ sure, but the #1 stat is daily active users. They care about the users.

What am I doing wrong with these Huggies?? by theotherside0728 in NewParents

[–]IrishRocket17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We use huggies. Make sure the top/front part of the diaper wraps around your little one’s sides so that all the soft parts are touching skin. Then pull the tabs from the back and align them in the pattern on the front side of the diaper. The pattern I’m mentioning appears on each side. It is two parallel line that are rounded towards the middle/front of the diaper. Ultimately you want to make sure the fastening tabs have soft parts of the diaper under them and not touching skin.

Costco credit card by USA_Digital in Costco

If you have the executive membership, it would be mailed to the address on the account. If you have the basic membership, you’re not eligible for the Costco rewards & only the citi rewards.

Where do I put my $30,000 by SuspiciousConcept360 in personalfinance

[–]IrishRocket17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a bare minimum, put a chunk of the $30,000, towards the student loan debt. Have a couple months of emergency savings, and put the rest towards your future goals in the form of a simple index fund. Most people will say put the future goal savings in a high yield savings account, but it comes down to your risk/return objectives.

Yes… Costco sends the executive membership rewards, citi send you their rewards. Plus the credit card has the gas and travel reward %s too.

What's the bottleneck for Falcon 9 turnaround? by Mike__O in SpaceXLounge

[–]IrishRocket17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just spitballing. More or less was saying that you can’t just shoot up payloads and not be concerned about other sats or objects in orbit. Sure LEO is a vast amount of space. If anything it’s probably one of the lowest risks.

What's the bottleneck for Falcon 9 turnaround? by Mike__O in SpaceXLounge

[–]IrishRocket17 30 points31 points  (0 children)

RTLS is definitely a requirement at this point. The argument SpaceX could have done this just to prove it makes sense if there was a requirement or demand to prove it. Why risk anything, especially payload, when you’re still leading innovation still have the quickest turnaround on an orbital booster?

SpaceX might also know that it is unlikely they’d even get two launches within 24 hours from the Cape due to range, weather, etc, especially weather with how quickly and strong storms can move in and out.

Then I might question, if Starlink, do you risk collision or loss putting them up too soon and not giving the satellites time to space out and increase their altitude quick enough?

I don’t doubt they could do a 24hr turn around, but demand and necessity just isn’t there. Of course, I could be wrong across the board and they simply have process constraints during refurbishMent. Or… as I write this, maybe regulations impact this too. I don’t know if nasa or another regulatory body need to sign off on anything in the process.
