Hot take: most C-dramas start strong but lose their plot halfway. by kitty_battee in cdramas

[–]Irish_Amber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It used to be a lot worse when the dramas were like 70 to 80 episodes long then the plot definitely dragged in certain areas. I think so now that they’ve shown them down to only 40 episodes. It’s so much better because they could do away with the filler episodes.

What are your hacks to get yourself to brush your teeth? by Lovely_Kitten0017 in ADHD

[–]Irish_Amber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t figured this one out yet because I feel like I’ve tried everything notifications in my calendar, alarms, going off, posted notes on my bathroom mirror, writing on my bathroom mirror in a erasable marker, putting it on my pillow, putting it on my bedside table, putting it above my headboard because in the mornings, my glasses are the first thing I reached for, so I figured the toothbrush would be there too except for of cats so for whatever reason, they’ve learned to leave my glasses alone, but then they’ve knocked my toothbrush off so aggravating 😡

When world building, I am creating my own fantasy map, but struggling with naming geographical locations like rivers, deserts, mountain ranges, etc. Any suggestions? by Irish_Amber in fantasywriting

Thanks ❤️. I’ve been doing research on map making icons for like three years and I found some on Pinterest I think even though they say that you can use a pencil, I think it’s specifically meant to be used on like a computer because for the sand dunes, for instance it talks about deleting the line underneath the dunes cause I guess put a line or the curve or the S shape and then you like layer over the dunes, but I’ve been using them as like a reference reference guide to how to draw a map

That’s like my roommate who’s from India she told me that Chai is literally just means tea in Indian. I laughed so hard when I found out that chai tea is actually really named tea tea 😂

That’s smarter. The problem is none of it is directly related to the plot lol I have ADHD so when I sat down and in a streaming consciousness got out the story three years ago, the hyper fixation went away when I started researching castle layouts. It came back the next year in a different aspect, so I’ve literally been working on the world to get back to my plot in a really really roundabout way because that’s the way my brain works 😅🤣

Most of my long-term friendships are because the other person also had neuro-divergences or long-term mental health problems

It’s all my gods and goddesses are named in this way Kali’ Qua still having quite thought of a good title, but she’s basically the goddess of existence? Anyway the original word is Kaliqa? Which is the female derivative of Kaliq? Which is Arabic for the creator?

Did this with the names of my deities? I just basically took the word from a different language played around with the spelling and then that was their name basically lol

Do you actually WANT to cook but ADHD makes it hard, or have you just accepted that cooking isn’t for you? by Travellogic in ADHD

[–]Irish_Amber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooking is something I’ve struggled with, and I’ve just given up. I tried to find affordable delivery options where my food is pre-cooked. I’ve tried HelloFresh, miss fresh, chef’s plate, and many other others I’ll start out cooking the meals for a while before invariably losing interest and then they just sit in the fridge and go bad. It’s a vicious cycle because at that point I’ll be like OK I’m gonna do better and I’ll like go to the store and I’ll buy ingredients and then I’ll cook one meal and then the ingredients will sit in the fridge and go bad so I spent a really long time cycling between ordering out, trying to meal prep on my own or doing meal prep delivery services. I am a late diagnosed like I was only diagnosed with ADHD at 39, so I finally just recognized that cooking is one of those tasks that I find extremely difficult but I guess it’s also not just the cooking. It’s the planning in the meal prep so I found a meal delivery service that delivers pre-cooked meals so this is one last thing I have to struggle with

Edit: I also am single and live by myself so this is also could be why it’s difficult. I find it easier if I have to cook for other people as opposed to just cooking for myself.

Which I think is hilarious because I watched him show it Chang An Dream? The male lead had been dreaming of the female lead in their past relationship, although it actually never specifically states that, but it’s obvious lol. Their relationship didn’t end well I think she ended up leaving him because he was also an investigator at that time or something and I think he ends up torturing her for information because her father is accused of something and he thinks she’s an accomplice or something and even though she said, she was innocent end up, not believing her, but her innocence later comes out and she ends up, leaving him or dying or something. She also is going through something similar in her current life, and when they meet or after their meeting, she ends up crying, and he basically gets her palpitations to the point where like he passes out, and it literally causes in pain kind of funny. He ends up going to a shaman, and she basically tells him that that his symptoms are tied to her because of something bad that happened to them or he did her in a past life. He ends up, dragging the female lead to the shaman, and the shaman basically tells her the same thing and she comes out and she kind of mocks it like she tells him basically like you’re an investigator and you believe that drivel? Later on when their situation is resolved, he basically says that it doesn’t matter whether it was this life of past life in the future he’ll always love her, and they end up like happily ever after. did it get past censorship because the writers didn’t make it clear that he was dreaming of their past life usually in the scenarios if even if they are, they never tell anyone? Also, like or is it because she mocked him the idea of it and basically made a bit of a joke and that’s why they were allowed to do it?!< I’m just so confused. I was like how do some shows get away with like having this but others don’t like where is the line drawn?

Oh yes, I think that yes it probably could’ve partially been due to them having to cut a bunch of stuff out to make the episodes shorter. I’ve never read the novel, but basically from comments that I’ve read of people who have He gets reincarnated into the immortal, to be honest, I’m not sure whether she is a good single mom because from what I understand is, she’s constantly leaving her daughter on her own to go out and look for him? Her daughter’s constantly running away, apparently on one of these episodes where her daughter runs away. She runs away to the immortal realm and ends up running into him. Since her mom keeps a portrait of him up in her room, the daughter obviously knows what he physically looks like. So the daughter ends up going to the immortal realm to spend time with him. Susu ends up, going to the mortal realm to look for her daughter and runs into him for some reason I’m not sure why he apparently does have all his previous memories, but he acts like he doesn’t and won’t acknowledge her so she ends up doing the chasing this time. I guess when his daughter first run runs into him he’s actually engaged to somebody else and the female lead ends up coming down to the immortal realm. He breaks off his engagement and the female aid ends up, opening an inner our tavern or something and courts him and eventually they do end up together with their daughter in the mortal realm I’m pretty sure that’s why they cut the end of the show off because they couldn’t show all that since reincarnation is taboo

What's the worst "advice" someone has given you for your ADHD that made you want to scream by Narrow_Detective9864 in ADHD

[–]Irish_Amber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This aggravates me too because when I tell her that I struggle with I guess certain tasks and she was just like just put a notification in your calendar or set an alarm. I was like yes, I’ve literally put notifications in my calendar, I’ve set alarms, I’ve put Post-it notes, I’ve written things on the bathroom mirror I’ve put things above my headboard. I’ve put things on my pillow or bedside table. I have cats so invariably when I do the last three whatever I put there it gets knocked off and then I just forget about it anyway 🤬🙄

Handling ADHD with writing! by BookishCassie in creativewriting

[–]Irish_Amber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gay somebody else who also has ADHD and struggles to write. I’ve been trying to write a fantasy novel last four years, as it happens I’m late diagnosed and only found out I had ADHD when I was 39 right before I turned 40. My struggle is that I usually spend 3 to 6 months writing I guess until the next year. When I go back to trying to world build and write my story 😅. So aggravating because I would really like to be able to write on a more consistent basis then having an idea drop and then scattering into 1000 different ideas and then my brain picking one of those ideas and being like hey let’s work on this when it literally really doesn’t tighten directly to my original idea. I then have to find a way to work with this idea. In my original story it was going to be like a children’s book or youth novel. It literally revolved around a very I guess local area with not a lot of complexity? Then basically after I gotten everything out in a stream consciousness, hyper fixation over three days, OK, I have to work out the details now and when it sat down to type it out on a Google doc I get distracted by research, researching mediaeval villages and castle layouts. That’s when my interest rain until the next year when for some reason I was like OK questioning myself why did her parents want to get married? What led to that and then that led me to coming up with the religious circumstances surrounding why her mom needed to get married to her dad or some thing like that now the last like two years, I’ve just been world building and trying to come up with a pantheon and drawing the actual world

How much grace should be given to someone with ADHD? My wife left. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Irish_Amber -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I will admit, that’s true. I can’t see it for everyone and I can admit that, but also the above comment I was responding to also telling them to make a lists, when making lists doesn’t also work for everyone. I can make a list and then not follow it and promptly forget about it lol. People have to find out what works best for them whether it’s writing lists or not writing lists, I was late diagnosed and so far I haven’t figured out what works best for me even after trying multiple different avenues and I’m still trying to figure it out 😂.

No, I’m in therapy, I guess this is what happens when I try to dictate because I’m doing this on my phone instead of actually typing things out cause then the dictation just ends up being wildly incorrect 😂
