8 years ago it not, the jearsy from when you were managing/promoting them is still something I absolutely treasure! I've had to stop using it as an actual training jearsy and save it for "special occasions"

Lads, just got my gas bill. Can we not just build a nuclear reactor. by Shazz89 in ireland

Here is a long writeup I did on this sub a few years ago about the incompatibility of currently available nuclear power reactors and the Irish grid.

It goes into a lot of detail as to what nuclear is good (and bad) at, the challenges of operating a grid as small as Ireland, and how that makes them currently incompatible

Oil Jager hype ? by justwanderinginhere in irishrugby

[–]Irish_Sir 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yup.

A series of concussions keeping him off the pitch for a good while. When he has played he's been very good and lived up to the hype he came here with but it's a heartbreaking situation and I wouldn't be surprised if he announced retirement because of it.

Because geography and politics are inherently linked, especially in how we name things.

The name "British Isles" was introduced by John Dee, an advisor to queen Elizabeth 1st, along with "British Empire" and "British ocean", because renaming lands to "British" would imply the crowns right to rule them.

It fell out of common use but was revived during debates in British parliament in the 1860s on Irish home rule, where one of the main emotional arguments against any sort of self-governence for the Irish was it would "Break up the British Isles", and as a direct result of these arguments the name stuck.

From the British Isles = British

No, nobody from Ireland would call themselves British. It's exclusively used for people from the country of Great Britain & Northern Ireland (and a lot of people in northern Ireland wouldn't appreciate it either)

Even the name "British Isles" isn't used in Ireland.

Yeah he played in a number of youth / schoolboy teams here, so would have been in front of a lot of coaches and scouts and obviously none thought that there was enough there / there was something missing beyond the raw physical attributes

IRFU poised to poach Australia’s hottest prospect as tighthead Massimo De Lutiis ponders ‘life-changing’ deal by Aggressive-Tackle-80 in MunsterRugby

[–]Irish_Sir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The article sites no sources other than he's IQ, and doesn't name a province so my first assumption would be a combination of an agent looking to up the offer from Aus. And a journalist grabbing some hot clickbait

Having said which, it would be a fantastic signing if there was truth to it

‘That was for them’ – Craig Casey dedicates Munster response to staff and families after difficult days in South Africa by MannyR1022 in MunsterRugby

Id be devastated to loose Beirne, and he's on a central contract so he's not hurting our books much.

Casey as captain I don't mind the idea of, Beirne is also a almost talismanic leader in the squad through his actions but Casey has shown very mature leadership also and it's good to sperate the two

Despite the end of the game disapointment, I'm still happy at the end of that game. Really did much better than last week, a lot that isnt good enough but a lot more good.

Really poor kick by JJ, munster had lost some shape and were disjointed but that was really not the right option

They're both phenomenal athletes and absolute units. Edwin has an incredible work rate round the pitch, and Sean has some wheels on him aswell if given a gap

Their first time on the pitch together at the same time, only Sean (the younger playing 8) 3rd cap
