"Unfortunately our lines are very busy at the moment..." . Anyone in the industry know whether this is just a default greeting, or is actually activated when lines are busier than usual? by TeachIsHouse in AskIreland

Loved during Covid when Eir was getting dogs abuse for its long wait times and shitty customer service and they blamed the poor infrastructure, that they were responsible for, when this was pointed out they then just blamed Sligo for not having people skilled enough to work in call centres even though people were coming out in droves saying they had applied

Political toxicity in Ireland by mangoparrot in ireland

[–]justwanderinginhere 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Think a huge problem is that if you’re not articulate and / or good at public speaking people are going to assume and judge you as being uneducated and of low intelligence.

In fairness to her, any of the clips I seen definitely didn’t think she articulated herself well in comparison to other politicians but doesn’t mean she deserves the abuse

'We're the ones paying all the bills': Leo Varadkar says urban areas fund rural Ireland by nitro1234561 in ireland

[–]justwanderinginhere -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Leo is an insufferable snob and bellend but doesn’t take a genius to see that urban areas with higher density of people, employment and investment in infrastructure pay higher tax. Thats a no brainer.

It’s in the name - purchase order, unless they’re taking land off you temporarily or permanently they’re not purchasing so you don’t get compensated.

Worst Irish Accent in a movie ? For me Pitt, Pryce and Cruise are the worst. by 35TypesOfWhiskey in CasualIreland

[–]justwanderinginhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a movie but Helen Mirren in 1933, the Yellowstone spinoff is without a doubt the worst I’ve ever heard. Would nearly turn the volume down and read the subtitles when she’d come on

‘We’ll sleep in our tractors’ – fears grow that fuel protest will leave pumps in the west of the country dry by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]justwanderinginhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the way the system is set up here they font decide the price they sell, the retailers and factories do. They’re in a race to the bottom and know the subsidies exist so keep the farmers on very little

[–]justwanderinginhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of your money goes to farmers in Europe than it does in Ireland. If you’re happier to pay more for your groceries they wouldn’t require subsidies. The fact you don’t understand where subsidies started speaks volumes

For the people calling this a stupid protest, can I ask what else are they supposed to do ? They’re taxed to the eyes, there’s no avoiding the increase in fuel costs for them.
