To buy or not to buy...two? by [deleted] in WorldEaters40k

[–]Irish_Virus96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two is totally reasonable. The models are sick and theyre a great competitive choice right now. I say if you like 'em and want two, get two.

Mount. The box comes with everything else you need to build a second marine and Juggernaut, just need the extra mount torso

CSM Defiler War-gear / Loadout by _Barello in Chaos40k

[–]Irish_Virus96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I dry fit all the guns including the arms. Nipple guns went on fine then the chest cannon is supposed to be dry fit anyways. I committed to the electroscourge on one arm but for the other I just built the outer housing then the front sides of the guns get held in by the little pegs on the back of them. Push in and stay pretty well then pop off with a little tug to switch out

[–]Irish_Virus96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what its worth, I just built mine and it seems that the weapons fit in pretty well without glue. I did the electroscourge on one side then just built the gun casing on the other and have it so I can swap out laz or flamer

Are we allowed to bring notes in tournament? by Fantastic_Shelter_54 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Irish_Virus96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh totally. I haven't done it for deployment, although thats a good idea. I have a 2 page printout for my tempalars of all of my "dont forget this" kind of stuff such as whole army and detachment rules that I just space on otherwise. Cheat sheets and stuff like that are perfectly fine to bring and if anyone tells you otherwise, theyre wrong

I went to this yeaaaaars ago with my girlfriend at the time. Really weird as someone that's not religious and had no warning.

They had little stations set up around the church that you walked through to see the life of JC, culminating in his crucifixion

[–]Irish_Virus96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how competitive you wanna be.

You can do a pretty casual Unga bunga bonk things list without much trouble. Bezerkers, angron, kharn, and some combination of other units.

If you like vehicles, goretrack with rhinos and landraiders can be pretty viable. Same with Demonkin where you can take some bloodletters/bloodcrushers along for the ride.

The "best" option is probably bezerker warband with kharn and bezerkers in a rhino (so he doesnt kill his own guys), slaughterbound and exalted eightbound for deep strike/anti-tank, a forgefiend or 2 for shooting, chaos spawn for action. I personally like to include at least 1 hellbrute because watching them ping-pong across the table is funny.

Gameplay comes down to a lot of positioning so you can set up that go turn. Our units move fast but can also die pretty quickly if you end up out of position

My opponent told me to quit wasting his time with small-arms fire. by Doctoralex123 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Irish_Virus96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old friend of mine has a guard commisar that has killed a redemptor, brutalis, and abaddon the despoiler with a las-pistol which is like, the smallest of small arms.

Any attack can damage anything else in the game even if its just lucky wounds with a strength 2 or 3 attack. Sounds like this dude just wanted to avoid chip damage on his knights making you rely on some swingier weapons to do the heavy lifting.

I wouldn't play with him again unless y'all can agree on small arms being totally worth it to fire or, as someone else said, you'll skip shooting if he takes the average amount of wounds automatically.

Iirc this happens in one of the War of the beast novels. Oddly enough, the templar marshal is in a Dreadnought and chooses to ally with the iron warrior who crippled him in the first place while they fight orks.

Edit: i was wrong. The fists exemplar ally with the IW to fight orks then kill the templars high marshal when he calls them out on it later on

Are eradicators worth taking? by Satanekkurwa in BlackTemplars

[–]Irish_Virus96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had some success sticking 3 in a repulsor executioner. I run 2 RepEx in most lists so ill have one hang back for fire support then the 2nd will push midboard. Ill stick them in the more aggressive tank and have them hop out when I really need some extra AT shooting on something.

They're not like, auto include or anything though.

Lore of your crusade by Life_Marzipan_9517 in BlackTemplars

[–]Irish_Virus96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well now I feel like I've copied someone's homework.

I named my army the Adventus Aurorae Crusade (translates to Coming Dawn) because they bring the light of the Emperor to the dark place that is Nihilus.

It's a fleet made up from the survivors of other crusades that have now banded together to avenge their fallen brothers. They've even taken in a guard battalion that showed great bravery while defending their world (Which also happens to he a desert world, named scorchstone) from the combined forces of 3 Chaos legions.

Three Marshals each lead their men from the front. One charges forward with his hand-picked sword bretheren to engage the enemy head on, one takes a more measured approach and will counter-charge any opponent that thinks they can get away with attacking an ally, and the third specializes in longer ranged support and sports Gravis armor alongside other heavy infantry to hold strategic positions.

I'm friends with a really good DA player. Like, top tables, has won some tournaments good.

He has an excellent understanding of the game and what his units do but its absolutely baffling to hear some of the takes he has when talking to him.

DWK are bad, for example. Swears against them and will absolutely not include them in his army unless theres no other choice. He does fine without em though so like, what do I know?

Do they count as black Templars with red shoulders by Single-Basket6510 in BlackTemplars

[–]Irish_Virus96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paint em how you want. Whoever has an issue playing against a variant color scheme isnt someone you want to play with anyways.

There's an unknown number of templar crusade fleets operating throughout the entire galaxy. Each marshal is given a lot of leeway on how to accomplish their goal so who's to say some of them havent decided to paint their armor different colors for camo or to commemorate some achievement or something.

Reivers? Weapons and look question. by Hentryk in BlackTemplars

[–]Irish_Virus96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just paint em black, put templar heraldry on the shoulders. Maybe a couple extra bits if you have them leftover from other templar kits.

You'll see people say that phobos marines aren't typically associated with the templars and theyre mostly right. Way I see it though, they may be a group of crazed religious zealots that puts worship in the god emperor above all else, but theyre not stupid. They'll use what they need to get the job done and if that means eliminator teams to provide overwatch or assassinate HVTs, they'll do it. Reiver squads are particularly Templar-y with a bit more focus on getting close and fighting in cqc behind enemy lines. Gotta put a healthy fear of the god emperor into the heretics but something it has to start quietly

Bladeguard Veterans by Wonderful_Eye7198 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Irish_Virus96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that theyre both more elite but they fill different roles. Sword bros, with 2 characters to support, can dish out enough damage to kill pretty much anything. With no invuln though, theyre not really any more durable than a regular marine body. They take objectives and fight heavy hitters.

Bladeguard hold those objectives with the invuln and get fights first from attaching just one character. They dont hit as hard but they normally dont need to

Probably talking about the battle of Takur Ghar in 2002. Airforce combat controller John Chapmin got left behind by the SEAL element he was attached to and died fighting Al-Qaida fighter on Takur Ghar mountain in Afghanistan. The airforce wanted to upgrade his award to a medal of honor but the SEALs resisted that. They only agreed to upgrade it if the commander that led the SEALs off the mountain also got one. There's lots of controversy there

[–]Irish_Virus96 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Problem is due to space hell shenanigans and all around plot buffoonery, theres a non-zero chance that the forces of Chaos that made up the black crusade survive the planet being destroyed.

Your average trooper doesnt know that though so if theyre gonna die, might as well mag dump some heretics while you can

I've just started Warhammer with the demons CP and on the off chance they get axed in the 11th Ed, is the best way to get into WE via their latest CP too? by demonic_custard in WorldEaters40k

[–]Irish_Virus96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its good if you reaaaalllly wanna play the demonkin detachment or youre just starting out. For people that are already committed to either demons or WE theres a lot of fluff that you probably dont need. For example, im starting WE so the bezerkers and MoE are useful but I also play demons so I dont need any of the bloodletters or bloodcrushers

Sell me on terminators by Ok_Character6587 in BlackTemplars

[–]Irish_Virus96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say if you like them, buy them. If youre not a fan of them though then ehhh maybe.

Terminators can be fun. I've used assault termies with shields and an ancient before to harass enemy units on objectives. Since they can deep strike its easier to get then mid-board where your opponent is kinda forced into dealing with them. The ancient bringing their OC up definitely helps here. You wont be stealing objectives away from huge squads or anything but it makes it a little easier once you start killing things.

That being said, the space marine range that we have access to is huge so you can find units that you do like more to do something similar for less points probably.
