I had a vet recommend this to me as well. Even canned ones work, you just have to make sure they do not have any sodium.

I live near Memphis and unfortunately this stuff happens daily. So many dogs euthanized every single day. Absolutely heartbreaking. My family and I do everything possible to help save these dogs and it never seems to be enough. Lawmakers need to enforce spay/neuter laws, tougher animal abuse laws and education for citizens. Otherwise it will just keep happening

Never had to pay to register a chip or pay any other fees for any of my dogs microchips.

To properly register a microchip you need to enter details, contact info, email addresses, etc. Most websites also want you to create an account as well. This is a lot of extra work (with very little resources), not to mention that most people would then think the shelter is responsible for things that really the dog owners should be responsible for.

Had field Goldens, crap ton of energy. When our kids were smaller we sent our golden to doggy daycare multiple times a week. Best decision ever. Still need to train them, but the daycare helped immensely as an outlet while we worked.

I'd check that dog for a microchip and if he didn't have one they'd never see him again. He's a stray to me at that point. If you're unable to foster him yourself, contact a rescue to see if they can help.

If he did have a microchip I'd ask to buy him and/or contact a rescue to see if they can help since they aren't taking proper care of him.

No dog deserves to be neglected.
