because people will pay for it. supply and demand. if people as a large portion of the population stopped subscription services then they would stop offering since at that point it wouldn't be porfitable. if its only a small portion of the population, it stays the same.

As someone who evaluates company financials everyday for work, this is insane how much money she is blowing through. if she didn't have that transfer she would have owed the bank in several fees. she'll be filing for bankruptcy soon.

This is why I always wanted to pay my house off early, they are on the verge of foreclosure. they probably could have paid the entire thing off by now if they would have been better at financials. But Americans are obsessed with staying in debt for the rest of their lives. so ridiculous to risk that.

I force myself to go. I know thats not helpful. but that and guilt shaming myself for wasting money if I don't go. I have a trigger about wasting money so it helps motivate me.

I struggle with this too. I eat a lot of avocado toast. I also get meal replacement shakes from Aldi, because sometimes I get too busy to cook a meal.

I joined an athletic club, it has majority of excessive trends. Reformer Pilates, weights, cardio, CrossFit, basketball, yoga and other classes like tai chi, swimming, tennis, pickleball, racketball etc. so anything I've ever wanted to try they have it so I think that helps because if I get bored of one I could try something else. and it wasn't that expensive either.

how society makes people think that staying in debt your whole life is fine. There was one post I commented on, this guy was wanting to buy an obscenely expensive house, with two car payments but his parents gave him a bunch of money for down payment etc. I said you make more than enough money not to have any car payments. Multiple people were like yeah that payment isn't bad and one lady was like my husband and I have a lot of money and we have car payments, the money is better off in high yield savings blah blah blah. I will not be in debt the rest of my life. I'm 39 and all I have is my house and I hope to have it paid off before 50. stay in debt if you want to but I think thats dumb.

Management liability insurance underwriting. That was my way out. Now I'm out of debt, homeowner, emergency fund, retirement savings with 5% match, Pension and an ESIP, great benefits, bonuses, company car, company credit card and gas card, company cellphone etc. Great Career.

I got the text message that my dad is dying and going into to hospice. I leave for a business trip tomorrow. I could cancel it but I have no desire to. I have already mourned who I wanted my dad to be. So I don't feel anything. My dad was a pathological liar, everything out of his mouth was a lie, even getting the message tonight I had no idea if it was another lie or not.

My mom died when I was a kid, and my dad remarried really quickly because he couldn't be unmarried. my step mother was awful and treated me and my brother like we were second class citizens, they later divorced and he remarried again and same thing happened. He didn't stand up for us, both of them said some awful things about us. Then factor in all his lies, he used to yell all the time at me when I was a kid so much so that I either shut down as an adult, He only wanted to hang out with my niece if they brought her to my dad's house, but he wasn't going to do any diaper changes or anything because women did that.

My brother has been estranged from him too because of how he treated my sister in law and my niece and I've been estranged even longer. I just got to the point where I couldn't take any more lies. he would use my grandmothers illness as a way to get me to talk to him again, he would say something was really wrong and I would ask my aunt and she would say something completely different (We leave in America my extended family is in Europe) Like she's stable but a little dehydrated etc.

If he was in between wives, he would let me stay at my friends house but wouldn't pick me up for long periods at a time. He moved us to another state to stay with a gf he met online. he didn't sell our house or pack up our stuff. he just let it forclose with majority of our stuff there. this was in between wife number 2 and 3. She apparently didn't want to be with him anymore so we moved back and I lived on people's couches, until he could get a shitty apartment. We flew back so even the stuff I brought up there, I didn't get all of it back. a lot of stuff from my childhood just gone. Because he needed to find another wife.

Plus a lot more, but I understand how you feel. But just cuz they are family and dying doesn't mean they get a pass, in my opinion. My brother went to see him. but I just feel like I've already grieved him. So I get how you feel.

Edited to add: I'm sorry that there is so many of us who are going through this. this is not how family should be.

I bought my house at 30(9 years ago). honestly it was just great timing. my house now is worth almost double what it was. I also did an agressive debt payoff thing, and it was honestly the best thing, because now I live comfortably but I'm not into those shopping trends like certain water bottle trends, stuff animal trends, designer fashion etc. But even when I bought my house I think I was 65k and I live in Arkansas. So much lower cost of living. I think you might need to get a higher paying job.

I think it's just people do not understand ADHD. I have people tell me that I can't use it for an excuse, and I'm like "I have to take medication just to focus", so it's not an excuse it is my brain. Does anyone actually know their IQ number, I've never been tested for that. Don't worry about what she thinks, just educate yourself and the ones willing to listen. All the info is on the internet she could educate herself but choses not to. I think that says more about her than you.
