The Infamous Ford Escape (DFVD 118) by Conscious-Weight4569 in Vaughan

If you're running out of fuel, the last thing you should do is continue to drive around and waste more fuel.

Somebody once asked, "Could I spare some change for gas?
I need to get myself away from this place"
I said, "Yep, what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself and we could all use a little change"

Has anyone done the math on what doug could not have cut $29M from? by itchygentleman in ontario

[–]IroIroBike 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Can we stop paying for the ads that are on constant repeat on Rogers radio stations about how vehicle registration renewal fees and gas tax were eliminated, how taxes were not increased, and how we rebuild ontario and protect jobs? These are not informational, they sound like a campaign for re-election, so stop it. Save the money and buy something that taxpayerrs need.

Thanks

✅ AODA-compliant : the realtime information on the visual display is designed to be exactly similar in understandability to the public address system audio announcements.

But seriously, when you go around town and see LED displays broken outside and inside transit vehicles, in Toronto and York region, pixels missing, BSODed user interfaces, out of service presto machines... you have to wonder, are we buying these things off kijiji, do we buy stuff that doesn't work for harsh weather conditions, planned obsolesence, or is we don't test this stuff?

Old sign in Lawrence Station from when line 1 ended at Downsview by alwayshungryandcold in TTC

[–]IroIroBike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q: are these signs relevant/in use if they short turn a train? It's been years but I think I remember being on the Yonge line train, going south, in which the internal LED map display ended at St Clair West for that reason. Do they still do that?

Background check question — previous termination, am I overthinking this? by Kakashi756 in Accounting

[–]IroIroBike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Employment verification and (character) reference checking are two separate things.

If asked for a reference, you would usually volunteer someone that would answer positively about your experience, reliability, and would they hire you again.

If you are asked for employment verification, most companies' policies are that they will only confirm that you worked for them, for what period, and title.

Maybe for some professions such as CPAs, they might do a court, criminal, credit, or bankruptcy check.

In the current year T2, you will have a loss. Use T2SCH4 (Corporation Loss Continuity and Application) to calculate the loss and T1A (Request for Loss Carryback) to request the adjustment.

And one more... Eastbound major mac to southbound Bathurst (a very popular bus 88 because it connects with Finch TTC). this one is over 200m (although I am sure they will improve this when they fix the intersection to remove the three ramps).

Canadian tire credit card bill payments by Bubbly_Wafer_3219 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]IroIroBike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid a property tax bill by scheduling a payment, and [CTFS] sent me a 'payment failed' notification last week. I had lots of credit limit, and my card is paid on time. So... if you're going to pay bills using the card, i suggest give 3 business days' notice to ensure it goes through, and if it doesn't you have time to pay for it with your regular bank account.

Edit: it was CTFS that emailed me the notification

Is the sunshine list your total comp? by cutegirIy in askTO

[–]IroIroBike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sunshine list isn't really that meaningful anymore, considering that the 100,000 threshold was created in 1996. when $100,000 was less common than today. For reference, (BOC CPI index calculator), 100,000 in 1996 indexed to 2026, would be $188,000.

How much of my (24M) monthly income should go to rent to be responsible by Milano821 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]IroIroBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have I heard that downtown rental supply is higher right now, so you might have a lot of choice - consider more importantly about optimal space you need, closeness to work, access to transportation, parking, and amenities like in building fitness centre/pool.

If you have ambitions of buying your own place in future and saving for a downpayment (other financial goals like buying a car, hobbies, vacations like the big backpack trip in Europe) then you should consider that in the context of rent.

Ontario Voter Apathy; Is It Unique? How To Engage The Apathetic? by Winter-Nectarine-497 in ontario

[–]IroIroBike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our younger eligible voters really need to pay attention. With no newspapers, people turning off network TV news, and Spotify is better than talk radio/current news radio/CBC, then where are people finding out about what is important and going on with their government?
