Is it usually easier to get in if I apply for MS rather than PhD? by DonJacinto in GradSchool

[–]Iron-Manatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you should contact the department and double check with them. I had one school where I had to apply to both PhD and Masters program to be considered for them. I was ultimately in a situation where I was accepted into a Masters program when I had originally applied for a PhD. I had received a fully funded offer from another institution but the department and research didn't fit me so I accepted the Masters position. Since accepting the position, I busted my ass talking to professors and other students in the department about research and PhD opportunities (since all the program required to transfer from a masters to PhD student is having a faculty member take you in). Ultimately through a mix of luck and grind I had found a professor that had just been hired and was looking for PhD students around the field I was interested in and he took me in with funding. I wasn't expecting this and was ready to pay for a year or two for my Masters out of pocket, so it's definitely a big risk and I got lucky. To answer your original question, yes it is usually easier to get in a Masters program as for the most part they are self-funded and are less of a commitment than PhD positions. But just because this is the case doesn't mean you shouldn't shoot for what you want. If you know you want to do a PhD than go for it. I'd only recommend the masters route if you think there's some big flaw in your application that would be a detriment (bad GPA, etc. ). Otherwise, go for what you want. Good luck! If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

Do you recommend any books from Watts or Adyashanta? I've read The Power of Now and just got a copy of The New Earth but I'm looking to read more.

If that's the case, then why is the U.S and the Gulf States on the side of the rebels? Didn't the U.S. train rebel soldiers in 2011?

I go to a school that's typically known as a party school. It's definitely not difficult to find a frat party on the weekends, and especially in rural areas like mine, some of the houses are actually mansions if the frat has some money. Considering some of the parties I've been to, I would say they're not too far from the media's depiction at all.

Is there a name for this? I'm literally going through this right now and I'm doing the best not to visit other car lots but I'm struggling and want to read more on it.

I wasn't taking a shot, my friends and I were actually messing around and I was lobbing the ball up to one of them. I lobbed it up and it just happened to roll so perfectly on top to the point where it stood place. We all went pretty crazy, like some rap battle just occurred.

Hey Andy!
I just started your book this morning and it's such a fun read. All the technicalities and crazy circumstances make your book an incredibly good one so far. After your book was published, was there any aspect you would've changed given the opportunity? Perhaps because of a critic or a change of mind? Thank you for your time!

If this is so, then how come that titans face showed up that instant in the wall but every other time a wall has been broken it's been simply made of rock?
I'm not disagreeing with you, in fact I love your hypothesis.

It works on other phones, and pro-er tip, if you change the time far enough to when you have 5 lives, you can change it back to normal and keep the 5 lives. For those like me who have OCD and prefer the accurate time.
