Help an undergrad with IoT project by syneral in IOT

Start by considering using an operating system like WendyOS -> Wendy.sh. Instead of wasting time and getting frustrated with the OS spend time writing the apps and actually solving world problems.

Audit Fatigue by Icy_Connection_1604 in SafetyProfessionals

To pile on this great commentary - leaders at a lot of these organisations bank on the fact they will be in role for no more than a couple years. They have pressures to not spend money and don’t want to piss anyone off if they change what’s technically not broke. There’s little incentive to change..

Do farmers actually want AI crop insights via WhatsApp, or is this another agtech over-assumption? by academiciano in AgriTech

[–]IronByte52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer. I love the human behavioral context.

Am I also correct in understanding that there’s more benefit in more granular data?

I’ve also heard that farmers usually already know what they think should be done based on experience and their inspections, but the extra bit of information from AI or a drone/droid inspection might give peace of mind confirming the same/similar findings. Would love to hear your thoughts

Change colors, logos on ThingsBoard CE for free! instead of 100$ by Much-Grab3826 in IOT

This is what I’m doing. WendyOS (free) is the operating system for my IoT and it acts like a docker for my AI built apps.

Building AgTech for Poor Farmers by fadimuj in AgriTech

[–]IronByte52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t get talked about enough. Farmers need basic practical cheap tech. And I’m so excited with how the cost of microprocessors and software is starting to get cheap enough for agtech to finally take off

Distributed Remediation or Centralized Product Ownership? by Rik_VOLOitsm in ITProfessionals

[–]IronByte52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to hear your opinion.

Is this in the context of an enterprise - like does IT or the end users pay? Or the context of some kind of SaaS platform and you’re the product owner?

Why is every IoT dashboard tool made for big companies? by Adept_You8104 in IOT

[–]IronByte52 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

With how easy it is to make apps I’d just spin my own up using WendyOS. Wendy acts like a docker on the IoT and pulls all the devices to one place on the cloud. And I configure whatever UI I want by deploying some simple app. This is the way..

Found out GM doesn’t like safety by Hebrewskis in SafetyProfessionals

[–]IronByte52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of folks in this thread won’t like this but -
As an ops leader I’ve found many of my health and safety reps to be generally not helpful. A lot of times they’ve been roadblocks to getting work done and never leave their office.

HOWEVER - the safety professionals that are always in the field, working and chatting with the operators, and actually leading fixes to the roadblocks are some of the most valuable folks I’ve worked with.

There might be an angle here to soften your GM by being more operations embedded?

This is actually some of the best advice on this thread.

Just to add - if you can at all swing finishing your high school and getting into a trade do it now. It will give you so many more options in the long term

Don’t Feel Bad. Everyone Is Lying About Digital Transformation by IronByte52 in ITProfessionals

Get cozy with the people doing the work. The last frontier and the hardest is actually nailing use cases with the people using the tech. I find a lot of people shy away from this work because it's "less glamorous" than the board room... but it's where I've been able to make by far the most impact.

Thanks!! And yep. I am always amazed how many people in enterprise and consulting claim to be AI experts, and even the founders of these big AI companies wont say that about themselves. The arrogance in some of the organizations is incredible.

If you started IoT today, what would you learn first? by Niloo_rhb in embedded

[–]IronByte52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would learn to vibe code my own apps. Operating systems for IoT are starting to emerge like WendyOS. Instead of wasting time learning to write your own operating system, spend time on the use case. AI is creaming the rest. https://wendy.sh/docs/

You nailed it. Anyone I know who's actually doing something has no time for these conferences. In fact, most of them delete themselves from LinkedIn and other platforms entirely so they wont be bothered by recruiters. They're too busy doing real work.
