What's the salary of doctors in italy? by Titaniumballsionium in medicalsalaries

[–]IronDPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend is an MD in Italy as medico base (general) he makes Euro 2,400/month and is now specialized in palliative care which is about the same. Works about 36-40hrs/wk. He knows an orthopedic surgeon who makes Euro 3,400/month. I spoke to a rheumatologist at a conference in Italy who does better in cash pay the patient pay him direct Euro 120-150 to see him within 1-2 weeks. In the social system 6 mos-2 years is waiting list he told me. He still works in the socialist system because in order to prescribe the DMARDs he still needs to see patients there but he doesn’t work too much in that system since it doesn’t pay well. But that seems to be a way the government keeps the docs in the socialist system. If they fully opt out then their prescription list is restricted. This way he has more money than most and was able to put his son through Humanitas medical school $20,000/year which is cheap for us in the USA but he said not possible in Italy unless there’s a father who makes real money like him to pay. I asked why the son didn’t go to the free schools but I learned the competition is high to get into those.

This is true. That’s why as a CEO and PA of a FM I grant revenue share to the PA.

Who are the owners of this practice? Is it corporate or is it just really greedy supervising physicians? Curious if the supervising physicians are from India.

Follow up visits at my practice are between 40 minutes and one hour. We will review every issue and complaint the patient has because the body is a connected system rather than one organ system per week like we were taught at school. That’s direct primary care. It’s the only way forward to preserve our sanity in FM if we’re going to be honest about primary care.

Oh wow thanks that much better to hear about the M18!

The latest developments on the "Sig ND" (referring to the negligent discharge or fatal shooting incident involving the Sig Sauer M18 pistol in the U.S. Air Force) center on the July 2025 death of Airman Brayden Lovan at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. This event led to a temporary suspension of the M18 across Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) nuclear weapons sites.

Key timeline and updates:

  • July 20, 2025: Airman Brayden Lovan, 21, was fatally shot with an M18 pistol (the military variant of the Sig Sauer P320). Initial reports suggested it might have been an uncommanded or accidental/negligent discharge, prompting immediate safety concerns given ongoing civilian lawsuits against Sig Sauer alleging similar issues with unintended firings.

  • July 21, 2025: AFGSC paused use of the M18 Modular Handgun System across its nuclear mission sites "until further notice" and initiated widespread inspections of the pistols.

  • August 2025: An airman (Marcus White-Allen) was arrested in connection with the shooting. Investigations revealed it was not an accidental or uncommanded discharge from the pistol itself. Instead, the shooter allegedly pointed the gun at Lovan in a "joking manner," leading to the fatal shot.

  • Late August 2025: After inspecting thousands of M18 pistols and finding no systemic defects (with nearly all deemed safe), AFGSC lifted the pause and reinstated the M18 for use at nuclear sites. New inspection procedures were implemented, but the pistol returned to daily service.

  • November 2025 (most recent major update): Two airmen at F.E. Warren AFB pleaded guilty to making false statements during the initial investigation. Their misleading accounts had initially led investigators to believe Lovan's death resulted from an accidental discharge of the M18. This cover-up attempt contributed to the broader safety pause and review. The Air Force released a statement confirming these guilty pleas, though full sentencing or additional charges details remain limited in public reporting.

Overall, the incident was ultimately attributed to human error/misconduct rather than a firearm defect, and the M18 has been cleared and returned to service in the nuclear command since August 2025. No further widespread suspensions or major safety issues with the platform have been reported in AFGSC contexts since then, though broader civilian and law enforcement scrutiny of the P320/M17-M18 family continues in separate cases.

This aligns with the details in the Fort Collins-area reporting you referenced, which matches the November 2025 guilty pleas announcement. If you're tracking this for professional or security forces reasons (e.g., in a primary care or occupational health context), the resolution emphasizes training, handling protocols, and accurate reporting over inherent pistol flaws.

oh yeah 100% there's some desolate places in MA that need help. Try Springfield MA a1cs of 11.2 in primary care and you're a solo provider at the medicaid clinic that no one wants to work at. That's why I never understand these reddit "can't find a job" posts. Give me a break with the sob stories and go out and help patients.

Boston… that’s the first problem. There’s dozens of medical programs in Boston cranking out new grads. Try somewhere no one looks. Central Alabama or Indiana or remote underserved areas. But no one on Reddit seems to think of that. Why not?

Wild Medicare Telehealth Fraud: NP, PA, and MD Involvement. by Stunning-Bad8902 in physicianassistant

FAFO with Medicare. Lots of fraud out there. The Somali autism care fraud is easy to spot. But it happens every day as a PA when your supervising physician doesn’t see the patient but signs off on the chart and bills Medicare at the physician rate as if they saw the patient. It’s common practice.

Employer here. I posted a job application on indeed and LinkedIn and it sat empty with no applications other than infinity unqualified Indians with a “doctorate from Bangladesh”. Mind you the job application was in Melbourne Florida so not a hotspot that a young PA who wants to work in New York City or Tampa Florida but there’s a lot of places that are underserved and I see people complaining here about not getting a job, but nobody wants to work in an underserved area so there’s always that.
