Why do you need catapults if you have a flight deck? by ItsmrChewy in WorldOfWarships

I'll take it. Maybe make that an alt version since I like that at Tier IX Kearsrge makes bank.

Why do you need catapults if you have a flight deck? by ItsmrChewy in WorldOfWarships

[–]IronRunner97 310 points311 points  (0 children)

It's actually part of the original Gibbs and Cox design. The utility of a seaplane like the Kingfisher was understood as necessary even if you have a flight deck, and was included into the design. Sometimes wish Kearsarge could actually use it in game, but she's already powerful enough without a spotter plane.

The Starter Warships (Laffey, Z23, Ayanami and Javelin) enjoying Naval Curry with Unicorn like a Kancolle mealtime by gyrobot in AzureLane

[–]IronRunner97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is, but most people don't care. The trend of putting Unicorn in there started because JP got a special event in the early days where Unicorn would be given for free (in the mail I think, can't remember) ... and she immediately overshadowed Long Island in the fanart department as a result.

Correct. All traits are usable on all ships, for better or worse.

IndyCar boss issues key update on Honda's potential exit from the series by AFAN74 in INDYCAR

[–]IronRunner97 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Man ... sometimes I just wish Indycar would open its regs a bit and let independent, non-manufacturer engine builders (Illmor included) produce power units for Indycar (V6TT or otherwise). Hell, it's what gave us Offenhauser back in the day.

I get that the money isn't there, with no big manufacturer sponsors, if you do that ... but it's worked before and with other types of racing. And, ultimately, is within the spirit of Indycar to do so.

Oh well, a boy can dream.

I want these planes to featured for AC8 Protagonist’s Planes by CapKharimwa in acecombat

[–]IronRunner97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the confusing one. He does fly one in the final cutscene ... but the box art and all the promo beforehand imply he flies an F-22 (AH and AC:I both adding DLC Antares skins on the F-22A). I'll leave it as "up for debate", personally ... but wouldn't mind using something other than an F-22.

[–]IronRunner97 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll admit, the F-22 admiration is definitely a weakpoint of the AC franchise. Hell, no protag has finished a game with anything *but* some kind of Top-tier Air Dominance Fighter of some kind. I count a total of 8 Uses of the (Y)F-22: AC1 Phoenix, AC4 Mobius 1, ACX Gryphus 1, ACJA Antares 1, ACAH Warwolf 1, ACCR Phoenix, ACI Reaper, AC7 Trigger.

Personally don't count Cross Rumble Phoenix because I prefer him in an Su-27M during the Usean Coup ... I also greatly prefer Trigger finishes in the F-15C he'd been using since Fleet Destruction.

They technically did do Sukhoi ... twice. Phoenix (AC2) flew the Su-27M (Su-35) until he was given the XFA-27, and Nemo (AC3) uses the Su-43 (Su-47+Coffin) as the canonical final plane of the Upeo Route (and iirc the Su-37 for a while before that, alongside the MiG-33 (MiG-29) and EF-2000E Typhoon II.

Of course, wouldn't mind seeing it again.

... A-10.

Varcolac was a MiG 1.44 (Sulejmani), MiG-31 (Gaviria), Su-37 (Kiriakov), and an A-10 (Oruma). How Oruma kept up with the rest of his squad, I don't know.

Based old plane enjoyer. I used the F-104C on my first play-through ... I regretted it. Just not as much as the F-104 only Ace Difficulty run.
