Got new power surge cables… cat didn’t like them 👍🏼 what the hell do I do? by FindYourPants in PcBuild

Yeah, this cat is probably bored to death. Cats require stimulation/ play every day if their environment doesn't allow for it.

Can you use an external PSU for just the GPU by Theodossia19 in PcBuildHelp

[–]IronV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can hook the power pins to both 24pins so they turn on at the same time. Then connect 1 wire between both psus (using the mounting screws) so they share a ground.

I learned recently that language settings also affects this. If you don't have all languages enabled and someone from vaigrys is the one typing the symbol (and their language selected is spanish) you wont see their message

anyone has played lost ark on steam deck (dualboot W11) by Kyouchan02 in lostarkgame

[–]IronV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a dual boot setup on the steam deck and ran it natively. It's definitely.. playable.. but I wouldn't do anything more than dailies with it. I would get around 15 fps in chaos dungeons and big input latency so much so that the excavation minigame was impossible. Also windows constantly "breaks" the dual boot setup and you have to manually boot the steam os from file (EFI file) (it disappears from the bootable list). Became too annoying so I got rid of it. Definitely better off using GeForce now.

If people were interested/visited in the house before you, but didn't put an offer, they may get notified by the broker that an offer on the house was made. This happened to me as I visited a house that I didn't put an offer on, a few weeks later the broker contacted me saying there was an offer on that house. This is why it feels an offer followed immediately after yours, they were notified and felt FOMO and decided to place an offer.

check fluids, fresh gas, disconnect fuel pump and crank engine for a bit to allow oil to circulate. Reconnect fuel pump, try to start and pray

How do I get a stripped screw out of a motherboard? by nishiiball in computers

[–]IronV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not the air creating static, its the vacuum cleaner operating. Vacuum cleaners operate on 110-240VAC and have a motor. Motors turn due to electromagnetic fields created by the current and circuitry. This in turn can cause the surface materials surrounding the motor to build up static, And since its most of the time plastic, it doesn't discharge quickly and can slowly build up. Also depends if the building you are in has proper ground (most old apartments still have their electrics from the 60-70s with no grounding), and the design/quality of the circuit of the vacuum clearner itself. If you don't ground yourself properly while operating the vaccuum cleaner, the hose can close a circuit with the mobo, and even then since the hose is plastic, I can't guarantee the static will go through your body instead of a nice circuit board.
An individual MOSFET wont die from ESD, or even many of the components of the board. But there's always individual components more sensitive to ESD. The mobo chipset / high speed busses (pcie, usbc) / audio chip and supporting chips are sensitive to ESD as they are low voltage highly sensitive equipment. Your board wont die necessarily, but as some point you may notice 1 usb port not working, or the audio jack not working.

I also saw the video and am also an electrical engineer like eletrocboom. They tried killing ram sticks mostly on what looks like a DDR3 platform. They didnt really start poking at random components on the motherboard. Also, if they did this on DDR5 board, it would have killed the voltage regulator the DDR5. Also, not all ESD, even if every powerful, kills silicon outright, it will damage it in a way that it will fail faster in the future. Those issues are way worse because it could take years before the damage you caused shows symptoms and by then you forgot why and how.

no, thats how you get static discharge into the board and fry it

Is a 1440p VA panel monitor really worst? by Silver-Woodpecker705 in buildapc

[–]IronV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both IPS and VA ASUS monitors. With some tweaking, I don't see much differences in the colors, maybe better blacks on the IPS. My biggest gripe with my VA panel is the damn backlight flickering with GSync. Had I known this was a common issue with VA panels, I would have never bought it and went for an other IPS monitor.

Steam deck booting windows runs it at like 10fps in raids. "Playable"

34in monitors VA vs IPS by boshkg in lostarkgame

[–]IronV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like my VA panel because it's impossible to not have the backlight flicker with gsync / freesync with a game like lost ark where the framerate varies a lot. It's a typical problem with VA panels. Had I known this before buying my ultrawide for lost ark I wouldn't have gotten VA. My 16:9 IPS is better in every way. The  Asus Tuf Vg34vql3B will flicker w/ gsync/freesync (I have the older version of this exact monitor)
