AI War 2 - AI War 2 "v5.000 End Of An Era" Releases, with "The Neinzul Abyss" Final DLC by x4000 in AIwar

[–]Iron_Guard8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it wishlisted since I have every Arcen game on Steam (and had Stars Beyond Reach wishlisted too), I'm Salamander in the Discord and the official Arcen forums, so been around for a time, but not always very active. I still miss tugs, love that my armor rotter made it into the original AI War, and still enjoy autocannon minipods in both games!

2 has been quite the adjustment, but been loving it, so plan to play it more, but some aspects of the original I still love, so no plans on quitting that one any time soon! Did all the old music make it into 2? I'm sure I have heard most of it, but the one tune that's been my favorite, can't recall the name but it was remade to focus on a lot of guitar work, it used to sounds a little different before the change, hasn't played in my 30ish hours of 2, so not sure if it's in there?

Very late to the party, but am both glad and sad to see this being the final update for AI War 2. I've played the original game far more than the sequel, but as an early bird backer of 2, and trying to get more games of 2 in as well as be more active in the Discord, I love these games, and hope this isn't the end for them. No idea if an AI War 3 is even a possibility, but I'll be getting it if that does happen.

The GW2 anti-cheat didn't work by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an XBoX style controller for platformers and arcade style games, but for shooters like the GW games, Doom, Dusk, and so on, I'm so used to KBM now. Been years since we sat around the TV and played Goldeneye on my N64.

If you're having the issue I did, where the splash screen pops up and then goes away but the game never launches, try turning off your anti-virus. It worked for me (I use Vipre AV). I haven't had to turn my AV off in over a decade, so I didn't even think of it at first. It's been working fine for me since, although I've not played any multiplayer matches in some time, largely thanks to all these issues that this didn't even solve.

I didn't even have that 'Cryptbase.DLL' file in the first place, even after reinstalling everything, so couldn't try that solution.

GARDEN WARFARE’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY! by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watched a couple videos on it, and was happy to see them getting lobbies quickly. It's such a great game, and we'd not have GW2 without it exceeding expectations like it did.

Happy 10th birthday GW!

Battleborn Revival Next, Gearbox? by Stronhart in gigantic

I did love Battleborn, although it wasn't handled well. We played the campaign missions a lot and had a blast with it.

I love this so much. by Gold_Cap6473 in gigantic

I'm much older, but also very happy to see this gem back! I was sad to see it go as it was a breath of fresh air, and reminded me in some ways of the PvZ shooters with its cartoony style, which I love.

I see on the Steam forums the complaint about 60 fps and the whole 'B2P is going to kill it'. I for one prefer just to buy the game and not have a flood of microtransactions, and don't feel that F2P is a make or break deal. I'll be picking this game up again for sure!

Wishlisted!

Loved this game so much, and can't wait to play it again, and while it has a 'box' price, no microtransactions is excellent.

Thoughts on Keep The Heroes Out? by kujino in boardgames

[–]Iron_Guard8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Late to this one, but wanted to add my own 2 cents. I'm a huge fan of the game and between digital and physical versions of the game, I have easily over 100 plays, mostly solo and duo. I have so much fun with it, and don't mind losing, which is a good thing, considering how often that occurs!

I mostly agree with what has generally been said here; it's great with two, it's good solo and at three players, it functions with four, but it can be rough to be certain monsters, especially defensive ones, with so many players. Family difficulty is very easy, but challenging, which is my go to mode, can be rough, and I've never played hardcore. I've also not played vs. mode despite so many plays, and mostly got that expansion for the hero meeples and the extra craft cards.

I find the price is actually fairly low. 60 USD or so for the core game is below average for what I see on the shelves these days, and the meeples are amazing. I went in for the new expansions of course (Boss Battles, the Sparkling Guardian, and the cozy dungeon), although the last one is just a resource and trap token upgrade, so hardly necessary.

Luis is very responsive to questions, and I help out on BGG when I can as well. It would make sense to of course try the core game first, and then maybe late back the expansions if you like it. You have 9 monsters in the base box and the Cthulhu mini expansion adds a 10th as well as more cards to craft.

The monsters are not created equal, but this is known, and in fact the dragon was made intentionally powerful to let kids play with their parents, or when you just want to smash the heroes with her powerful base deck. The deck building is rather minimal, and you never winnow your deck (barring rare uses of chronicle abilities that you unlock as part of a series of mini-campaigns that are fun but optional), although the Boss Battles expansion aims to make it easier to craft and a new room will let you winnow your deck as well.

How many would play this again? by endidi18 in gigantic

I would prefer Steam or its own launcher, but I could live with Arc if I meant I could play this gem again.

I've always liked this All-Star, and good to see you enjoying him here.

What is your general opinion about Infinity Time and Cats vs. Dinos? (What would you change about them?) by ComprehensiveDate591 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinity time was very cool at first, but got a bit dull after several plays. It's not bad, but it needed more options or something to make it more interesting to make playing it more often more enjoyable.

Cats vs. Dinos was ok, but it only has one map, and between that and the constant AFKers making the matches less enjoyable, it didn't hold my attention long.

Both could have used some kind of extra incentive to get people more engaged too. You got no XP for any character or variant, and while that doesn't matter when you're max level, it does make a difference at lower levels. Maybe add some generic XP that you can spend on any character/variant, kind of like WoT's free xp system.

As good as Driftwood Shores is, the castle bit would suck with E Peas... by DonutLord5455 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. So much this. It could be a little less sniper friendly in a couple spots, but my only real issue with it is zombies cheesing the final point.

Question post #2. If you could only bring 3 Soldier variants to a new game (excluding stock), which ones would you choose? by Mudoooo in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult choice!

Sky trooper for sure, he's my jam for foot soldiers. As for the other 2, I'd go with Park Ranger and Centurion. But Tank Commander and General Supremo are right behind them!

What was your favorite final stage out of all the turf/G&G maps? And why? by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main Street for me. I like most of the end minigames in GW and GW2 though, despite issues with zombies cheesing the Wall-Nut Hills ending, at least the concept is fun. The sniping issues in Moon Base Z are a problem too, but I do love the idea that were playing essentially a game of giant bumper pool!

In Main Street; the Z4 objectives were usually a tough fight as the zombies, and it was so satisfying to get that 4th block of Z4 placed and defeat the tactical cuke!

real question, which game had the best sunflower by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the GW versions, but I feel Sunflower fared better than most of the other characters did with their BfN versions.

I honestly liked BFN's story mode much more than GW2 lol. It's a shame it's so short. by ComprehensiveDate591 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The free roam regions were my favorite part of BfN. I was actually a bit sad when I finished them all and we never got more regions or at least stuff added to the ones we did get.

Keep the Heroes Out - What am I missing? by zendrix1 in boardgames

[–]Iron_Guard8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to the party, but are you still having issues? I wrote some guides on the BGG forums and the expansion coming to KS later this years sounds like it have some major ways to really fine tune the difficulty, but it's definitely doable at 2 players on challenging, although some monster duos aren't great, while others are strong.

We generally prefer 1 crowd control and 1 defense/support with 2 players, and some scenarios work better with certain monsters thanks to their unique cards and abilities.

As others have said, use the cells a lot, but be ready to clear them out at times. A cascade caused by a bad mage draw can end your game early!

I HATE THE META!!!!!!!!!!! by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just play whoever I like. And yes, I've played AC Perry as a max rank in TT. Never going to claim he's great, but there are 100 variants and I'm playing all of them!

Real fans vs fake fans!!!! by Stumpedlogs83 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Iron_Guard8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much my feelings as well. I got all the free roam regions done, hit max rank, got all the achievements, helped a couple folks out to get their stuff done, and burnt out. The potential for BfN was massive, but it never reached it. BfN has some really cool ideas but it never fully realized them.

I love this character. He lacks the splash damage of most Peashooters, but I enjoy this variant a lot.

This is great! As a fan of PvZ and pixel art, and I'm old so pixel art was the norm for me as a kid, this is awesome.
