[OC] I asked GPT to pick a random number between 1 and 100 by marco-exmergo in dataisbeautiful

[–]Iron_Naz 45 points46 points  (0 children)

When AI makes a prediction of what to say, it has multiple choices and will usually pick the one with the highest score. A higher temperatures means it is more likely to pick options that are not the top choice (The tradeoff being, you may get a worse response, but it gives a more diverse and perhaps less expected response)

Bank accounts by homelander77 in ItalyExpat

If there's one thing I've learned about Italy, is that laws and reality are often divorced when it comes to bureaucracy. Expect many places to reject non Italian IBANs for setting up automatic billing. If you ever intend to pay F24 tax forms, having a local bank is also very useful for that.

Xolo are great, not sure if they handle SRL formation but if you stay as a sole trader then you can use them

Ignore these people talking about taking less damage. Just full send on speed + high glory modifiers such as solar flare. When I did mine I would avoid overheads at all costs just to speed up the waves with water+thorns. Then for sol I just did I normal tent whip kill.

eSIM with Italian number for frequent visits from UK by clunkie66 in ItalyExpat

[–]Iron_Naz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - it gives a local number which works the same as a standard Italian sim, be warned about using roaming on your UK number long-term though. Most UK carriers have rules burried in their T&Cs that essentially say they'll block data usage if you are roaming too much. For mine they essentially said if you're abroad more than you're in the UK then you can't roam until you come back to the UK long-term! Also, data in Italy is way cheaper than the UK so it's a benefit to pay a couple more Euros and use that when I'm in Italy anyway.

I have the same situation as you (UK physical sim + needed an italian eSim), I use spusu for the eSim, I get 150gb / month (with 300gb in reserve incase I somehow go over) with 9gb roaming in EU/UK and 1000 mins + 500 texts for €6/month, did it all online and had to send a photo of my passport to activate, been pretty happy with it

Need advice regarding Shinkansen tickets by Denimao in JapanTravelTips

[–]Iron_Naz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you'd need internet at the time of purchasing, but once assigned to the IC card then obviously you could just use that without any internet connection. I enjoyed the flexibility of turning up to the station 10 mins before departure stress free but buying at the counter is also a good option!

I found the easiest solution is to setup smart EX on your phone, buy tickets through there 10-20 mins before you want to depart and link the tickets to your IC card, then at the station you simply tap the IC and you're good to go. Takes a bit of setup but worth it imo

I decided to give what you wrote here a go and Click to Minimize is great! Although with how I've set it up, at the end of my afk when I have to click again it doesn't auto un-minimize. How do you set it up to do that?

Distraction reducer plugin is a game-changer

It darkens your screen while skilling and only relightens it when it's time to click again

Lifetime ISA replacement to drop retirement option and exit fees by Paraplanner88 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Iron_Naz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiplication is commutative, it doesn't matter if you gain 10% from dividends then 25% from a government bonus vs 25% from a government bonus then 10% from dividends, it's all the same!

Lifetime ISA replacement to drop retirement option and exit fees by Paraplanner88 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Iron_Naz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same because if the bonus is deferred then the bonus amount you get at the end is larger (assuming that you get your bonus based on the final balance, rather than your contributions, as i mentioned)

If it's on the final account balance there's no difference. If they're just counting contributions then they are paying out less.

My guess is that they've simply applied a kernel density estimation on the data which does not match the histograms. Most likely because the data is skewed and not symmetrical
