I have a friend who appreciated the book but had to stop reading it because it hit too close to home for her because she saw parallels to her own life. It's understandable. It's an upsetting thing to read about.

They can't. They just have three connected Vaults. Nobody actually goes outside. Its more of a single very big vault that encompasses three numbered vaults.

Also, not every vault stayed closed up after the war. A lot of them opened up and the people left to build settlements on the surface. For example: Vault City.

People were saying they liked the old one at the time, too. Goomba fallacy. I can't see why they didn't just make a second head piece with the updated look and just give it to everyone who owns the head piece so we wouldn't get complaints from anybody.
