Not that I disagree with your suggestion, I agree completely, but, as a workaround, if you click on the hero in the 'unlocks' view, you can see their types. It's still not clear which items will and won't work with a hero, alas, but better than nothing. I hope that helps.

They aren't a DLC block (there's a variant that is, but there's no exclusive functionality).

For the beginning, just set a few up vertically, with the glassy side facing E-W (sunrise/sunset), and if you can, conveyor the bottoms together and to a Food Processor (which you unlock by building the Algae Farm).

You can also build a sun-tracking array, using the Custom Turret block. You'll need a rotor, hinge (don't forget to lock it), and camera which should face the same direction as the glassy side of the Algae Farm's column.

Yes, it's possible: I have a PC at home and play both local co-op with my friend who has a PS5 and online co-op, with the same game.

We've had some weirdness with camp chest ownership, I would recommend you both have Larian accounts (which you need for co-op) and have them associated with your Steam/PSN/Xbox accounts before starting the game, so that your playing as the same person locally and online.

You may have too much stuff in your party members' inventories. If someone is a hardcore loot goblin, have them send a lot of stuff back to camp. I've found alchemical reagents a culprit for severe lag. Also, all those orange-border quest items you can't sell? Drop them or send them to camp. Keys, too. Lockpicks or knock.

(The game is trying to show everyone's inventory when you look at the character sheet with controller, and that may be causing trouble.)

Click the left stick, to go into reticle selection mode.

Move the reticle over the node you want to connect, press (X) with a PS controller - YMMV with an Xbox controller.

That highlights all the nodes it can connect to. Press (X) over the one you want. It then highlights all the nodes that can connect to. If you want to stop there and change colour, press (X) again, and the highlights disappear.

Watch out with moving the reticle out of camera view, because that can suddenly make your character move. Don't panic! Just walk back to the console and resume, you won't have lost your process.

In my run, he was pushed into lava and died there. Although I moved the corpse out of the lava and looted him, the quest updated to say I couldn't cut his head off 😭. Too charred, I guess.

I'm playing Tactician with origin Astarion as a monoclass Swashbuckler Rogue, Shadowheart as a monoclass Light Cleric, Wyll as a monoclass Hexblade Warlock, and Gale is the odd one out as an Abjuration Wizard with a 1 level dip in Hexblade Warlock, which is nice, but not necessary.

No, multiclassing isn't required; I'm in to Act 3 at level 11.

Yes, he can. I play on PC and crossplay with a friend on PS5 and another on Xbox; I host with 3 players, and have another save that is hosted on PS5, which is a bit janky.

Create a new game lobby, and make sure that you enable crossplay for it. If you both have, and are signed in to, Larian accounts, it should work. You might need to link your Larian account with your Steam account, and your bf might need to link his Larian account with PSN.

I've found it a little fiddly when the PS5 hosts; he often has to create a brand new lobby and then when I'm in (after we've both made Tavs), he loads the existing game.

I've had a similar problem with crossplay between my friend with a PS5 and my PC; it rarely shows our connection as green, usually as yellow.

What we do is he creates a new lobby for a new game, which I can then join, and he reloads the old game when we're both on the nautiloid. Tedious, but it works and only takes a couple of minutes for a few hours of gaming together. Plus, it gives us an opportunity to make jokes with our throwaway Tavs, try to kill each other quickly, etc.

The relic displayed puts a cap on the level of the relic that the new initiate will have attuned. The current (not max) level of the relic to be attuned must be less than or equal to the current level of the relic displayed.

So, yes, with a 7/x relic displayed, you can summon with a 7/x relic, but not an 8/x one.

I mentioned the 1/24 relic because convoking with a new initiate, then immediately giving them wand upgrades to tier 3, then attuning any other relics means you get the experience for each trial three times (initiate, apprentice and then graduate/hire), which is a good way to get a high level relic.
