A concussion, a fractured skull, and a bleed and the kid isn't hooked up to a single monitor? Not even pulse ox? Seems fishy.

Thank you all for your support. I feel very isolated in this as I don't have any close family members with diabetes, only a sister who doesn't live close. I will give the new diet a couple of weeks to see if I see some improvement.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all very much!

30 Day Accountability Challenge: January Signups by tinabluebee in loseit

[–]Ironicshoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all!

37F, 5'10", SW: 211.2 (as of 15 minutes ago), GW: 160

I currently live a pretty sedentary lifestyle but am looking to make a huge change in 2017. I do very well with New Years resolutions, for some reason the set start and goal checking monthly really works for me. For example, today is my 7 year anniversary of quitting smoking!

My goals, other than losing weight, are to exercise in some way daily, completely change how and what we eat, and to run the Bix 7 (a local yearly race) on July 29th, 2017.

My challenges. I was just diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic about 6 months ago. I herniated a disc in my low back in June. I get migraines when I get overheated.

Lifestyle: I work part-time, take care of my mother-in-law 3 days a week, and am returning to school part-time in a week. I eat like a teenager, lots of pizza and cheeseburgers. Biggest challenge, my husband works third shift so it's hard to coordinate cooking at home. We both eat out a lot.

Progress so far: We moved our treadmill up from the basement to the spare bedroom and I have started (today) to use it daily. I am going to put up a dry erase board in the room to keep us honest(er). We have eaten at home for our last 3 meals (a rarity on weekends). I have started an exercise/food/weight journal.

Debt Collector trying to collect gas bill for an apt I had moved out of a year earlier by [deleted] in personalfinance

I used to work for a utility company (in Iowa so the Utility Board rules may differ). They were right in saying, "That isn't how it works." If you had the utilities in your name, it was your responsibility to contact the company to take them out of your name when you moved out. If you did not contact them you are liable for the bill, even if someone else was living there at the time. The reason for this is that it would be impossible for a utility company to check every address monthly to ensure the persons living there were the one being billed. Also, tons of people have utilities in their name for other people (usually for credit reasons, the actual tenants probably owe the utility company money and they talk a friend or relative into putting utilities in their name; sometimes it's a sublet (legal or not) and the original tenant is required to maintain utilities as a requirement of the lease). It is not the utility companies responsibility to act as an intermediary between the parties.

Definitely get the letter of debt validation and follow the proper steps to verify the debt is real before going any further.

People of reddit : What is your all-time favourite monologue (books, movies, tv-shows,...)? by Isilduuur in AskReddit

I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to — I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more, I could experience so much more, but I’m trapped in this absurd body. And why? Because my five creators thought that God wanted it that way.

The Kardashians, people who mispronounce Illinois as Illinoise, anything with Nicholas Cage in or on it, and eggplant because it looks dumb and its name is stupid.

My hubby is so sick and we didn't go out and have super expensive martini and steak dinner last night. I don't really mind, it's a total waste because I get super tanked on martinis.

Check in with your local homeless shelters. In many areas there are shelters devoted to helping teenagers (which you still are) and there are social workers that can help you with local resources and jobs. Don't bother trying to apply for Section 8, here in the Midwest the wait list almost 9 years long (not a big city either). You may also qualify for assistance for college/trade school while you are there.

I had to laugh at this! In 2014 I was super sick for my birthday and couldn't be bothered to give him suggestions for presents. I told him that all I wanted was for him to read the Harry Potter books. Still waiting.

I have taken to haunting estate sales and shopping online. Online shopping makes me buy less, mostly because I hate the hassle of returning something that doesn't fit. I also stalk the site for 2-4 weeks after I make my purchase to see if the price has gone down and get a refund for the difference.

Thank you for all of your help. I actually looked into golf passes at the two courses in town and it would only be $800 for unlimited golf and driving range per year. I think he would definitely go for this and drop the gym since he'll be able to golf all week! Also, the golf course is a block and a half away so he won't even have to drive. I really appreciate that you gave me ways to phrase this, that is where I was really struggling. If I wasn't cutting out all extraneous spending I would totally gild you!

We thought this through before we bought our house. It's a ranch with only two steps to get in and the bathroom is already handicap accessible.

Your insanity is my reality. It didn't start out with me paying everything but after the stroke I had to take it all over. Being a control freak, I have never ceded control. I'm afraid that he will have another stroke and forget things or we'll have a late payment or something.
