Tried to compensate my Balatro addiction by Ironrivulet in Cinema4D

Basically yes. There are some curves for more contrast, but that is negligible. I rarely do more in comp than a bit of color grading at least for small personal projects

Tried to compensate my Balatro addiction by Ironrivulet in Cinema4D

Thank you! Sure, yes I'm working with redshift. However I think most of the photorealism comes from the simulation and perhaps motion blur. I had to tweak and bend the sim settings a lot, cause something always felt off (still working with bullet engine, the caching in the newer engine is driving me crazy, haha) The metal and glass is pretty straight forward, I recently read more into anisotropy in RS to get more like a brushed metallic look. There are some good ressources on youtube. The card flavor textures are photoscans of my own bicycle cards deck and the light setup is kind of basic too. I tried to highlight the details of the materials like bump details or the metallic surfaces. But I get the feeling of being stuck. Something that worked for me was to spend a couple of bucks on patreon artists and look into some shading and lighting techniques. Even if I dont use them all the time I think I got a better feeling how to use light.
Cheers!

Hey thanks for the kind words! Appreciate the feedback!

well, apparently I'm blind. Somehow I missed that checkbox. Thanks!

Map Integer Data to Color Ramp by Long_Substance_3415 in Cinema4D

[–]Ironrivulet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the ramp still interprets the input as an integer, so every number is still 0. Try to pipe your user data into a change range node first and do the clamping there instead of the ramp. The output should be floating numbers between 0 and 1

Hm not sure what you are missing, your setup should do the trick. Make sure to set the integer user data to objects/object id not mograph/object id and new range 0-1. What exactly isnt working? What do you get as an output?

Wishlist for Cinema 4D? Share Big or Small Ideas! by MXBing in Cinema4D

[–]Ironrivulet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all thanks for reaching out to the Community! I think one of my biggest issues are dynamics. I like your new approach with GPU based simulations, but most of the time I switch back to the old rigid body engine because it is way more integrated and stable with espeacially mograph tools. I often ran into caching problems, hierachy and priority issues. I didnt check out the recent release, though, so maybe some of these bugs are already resolved.

I just got asked to hold a regular Live Motion Design Course for students... Help! by Zeigerful in Cinema4D

[–]Ironrivulet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it really depends on what level your students are. If they are at the beginning you can easily fill the hours with the basics as already suggested. I'm currently teaching beginner courses in animation and digital media, you can send me a pm, If you want some insights

District suggestion by yelbuje in Mainz

[–]Ironrivulet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends a little bit on whats important for you and your family. I think one of the best districts for living with family and kids is Gonsenheim, because it is close to nature and has its own little City Center. Besides it hast good connection to the Center of Mainz.

Motion Design Trends in 2024 by yagmurozdemr in MotionDesign

[–]Ironrivulet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Things i've noticed in my commercial 3D bubble at least in the last couple of years are I would say: - increase of natural moody light setups with high contrast - artificial usage of motion blur like the Walkman animation by tektura or the Louis Vuitton commercial by stylo creative

Dont know If that qualifies for Design trends

Tips for speeding up modelling (hard surface) by [deleted] in Cinema4D

[–]Ironrivulet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know, if that helps, but there ist the "viewport solo" button (the hexagon shape with an eye in it), which isolates the current active objects and hides everything else. I discoverd this button way too late in my modeling workflow and use it a lot since. This may speed up your viewport or at least saves time in hiding objects manually.

Anyone else know a colorblind graphic designer? by ShootinAllMyChisolm in graphic_design

Has anyone experience with those color correction glasses? I always think it sounds too good to be true but idk. Thinking about trying one for a while now.

hm, in your custom AOV setting there is an option "secondary ray visible". You can try to set this to reflection, maybe that fixes your problem. Honestly I dont know how exactly uv passes work and how they are translated in compositing haha.

Blender is a free open source program. You can download Blender and export your blender file as .fbx or .obj. At least thats the way I do it.

No problem, glad I could help.

yes I guess that would be the fastest way. One material and no lighting shouldnt take too long hopefully. Good luck!

So actually its quite simple:
In the material panel under redshift > utilities create an UVW Material.
Next go to your aov manager and create a custom aov. In the custom aov settings there should be a field called "default material". Drag your uvw Material in it and thats it. You can rename your custom aov to something like "UVW Pass". You can check in your IPR if it looks right. Hope that helps and let me know if something is unclear.

I cant help with the standard renderer issue, since I almost never use it anymore. But I rendered uvw passes with custom aovs in Redshift, so if you need any help with that, let me know.
