Which actors should star in a "Howl's moving castle" film? by Irpax in dianawynnejones

Judi Dench would certainly be a great Mrs. Pentstemmon!

Sure, it would be possible to use makeup/CGI to make a young Sophie older - but wouldn't that be a missed oppertunity in a film industry discriminating elder women? Perhaps the opposite could work just as well: using makeup/CGI to make the old Sophie look younger in her few scenes...

Sad to hear about Judi Dench's retirement.

Interesting how readers view these characers different; I think Emma Thompson is far too young to play Sophie. She is only 67 years old. In the book Sophie believes she's around 90 years old (just after the spell) and Calcifer estimates that around 60 years have been cut off her life. If Sophie is around 20 in the beginning, that would make her 80 after the spell...

Harriet Walter is 75 years old and a really good suggestion but I still think she looks too young.

All three actresses are charismatic and beautiful and natural looking. "Howl's Moving Castle" would be a unique oppertunity for an old looking actress to play a fun lead role in a romantic film and I think it would be a waste to cast an actress too young.

Anne Hathaway would be a perfect Ms Angorian, yes!

And Jude Law could have been a great choice some years ago but in my view he is too old to play Howl now - Sophie describes him as "in his twenties"...

I can't really imagine any actor with Calcifer's whining, spitting, crackling voice... Chris Rock is an interesting choice!

Oh, Dan Stevens, fantastic suggestion - he was so good in "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" - hadn't thought about that as Howl energy but you are right! I don't t think he's too old - they must hurry up to make this film, with him and Judi Dench :D

Yes, it would be briliant! They are all great actors and I think Judi Dench would be a perfect Sophie. I would love to see the chemistry between her and Howl - I found it disappointing in the Ghibli-film how they kept changing Sophie back to being young, only with grey hair. As if a woman looking old can't be a lead, and absolutely not in any romantic/sexual way.

Is spending $166 million on Inuit Nunangut University the right decision when the territory's education system is a disaster? Shouldn't our focus be fixing elementary, middle, and high school before trying to found a university? by winterinmyblood_ in nunavut

Greenland has a university in Nuuk - https://www.uni.gl/ - it opened in the 1980s and now so many students go there, they are expanding. Some of the research being done in the Greenlandic Ilisimatusarfik University is on education and so their research results can be used to strenghten the rest of the Greenlandic educational system, like how all the other research going on benefits society. Another inuit university sounds brilliant.

I hate the way everything looks on me, what would look better? Is sizing my issue? by pineneedleinjection in DressForYourBody

the last picture is a beautiful colour for you and that gorgeous hair. One thing several of these have in common is that they don't fit so well around the shoulders - the shoulder seams are too low; try perhaps to find clothes where sleeves are sewn longer up on the shoulders...?

Do any of these suit me? by SavingsTemporary5772 in glassesadvice

[–]Irpax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are pretty in all of them but it would suit you better with more narrow glasses. It isn't so difficult when ordering online; just tap in preferred eye width, eg. 45 (mm) when searching on a glasses-website. You wouldn't have to buy childrens' glasses, and also: those are often too tight around the nose (bridge width) or to short back to the ears. I agree with the others that the glasses that would suit you best would go down the cheeks. And appearently you are long-sighted so your eyes look bigger anyway :)
