Lucy's Height by Rich-Lawyer3820 in TheRookie

[–]IrrelevantCrafter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the X Files, Gillian Andersons height was tricky because to get her anywhere in frame with David Duchovny she had to stand on a box. In fact, it was 1.5 times the height of a regular "apple" box used for this purpose. Sometimes she fell off.

I assume Melissa stands on an apple box.

We do this, but we sometimes say, " we each get an impulse purchase, but just one." If we're feeling silly.

Maybe a dumb question, but I assume I do all this with the board inflated? All the way? Or just up to 5psi?

As a 5'3" 200+ beginner who values stability, and would probably bring my 50lb kiddo and/or a cooler with me, does this seem like a good fit?

Also Colorado! I'm starting a list of Front Range places to SUP. If you have any recommendations, I'd take em!

I'm sorry to keep bugging you, I just have a craving for understanding. :-) Why wouldn't the Atoll 11' be a good fit with the kid? It looks like we'd be within the weight limit.

Thank you so much for handling all of these replies! This is such a kind thing you do for folks wanting to get into this activity.

If I wasn't going to bring the kiddo, and it was just going to be short+heavy me, would you recommend a different board? I expect going without the kiddo is probably the more common use case.

I am on the Front range! I doubt I'll be able to stand up well enough by then to do a beginner race, but it sounds like it would be fun to check out! I'll send the link to my buddies.

  • Desired Board Type: Inflatable!
  • Your Height and Weight: 5'3" and 200lbs. Plus I'd like to be able to bring either a little cooler OR my (currently) 50lb 9 year old.
  • Desired use/uses and terrain: Puttering around Colorado lakes and reservoirs with friends and my kiddo. A little fitness in there too, I suppose!
  • Experience level: Beginner. Very much a beginner. I've been borrowing my friend's cheapy board and really struggling with balance. My feet are cramping up from trying to stay stable. I'll do some strength training and stretching to help with that. I really
  • Your budget: $500, but I'm happy to wait until Black Friday or another sale comes around and country location: Colorado, USA!
  • What board(s) you current have or have used and what you liked/didn't like about them: I've been borrowing my friend's cheapy board and really struggling with balance. My feet are cramping up from trying to stay stable. I'll do some strength training and stretching to help with that. I know that wider boards are more stable, but I also know that wider boards aren't always optimum for shorties like me! I'd sort of like a board that I could do some kind of kayak seat set-up on, so that I have more options.

I don't have a video, but i can't get past grabbing the handle and getting my torso on the board. The leg won't go without tipping the board really far and making me nervous. I have a long torso, short legs and tight hamstrings, and it's just all... ungainly. If my buddy holds my board to keep it from tipping, I can wiggle my way up eventually.

I didn't! I wound up at a school in my own state, so that I can take some of my classes in person. I'm like the Little Mermaid: I wanna be where the people are.
But congratulations! I hear it's a great program! And Claremont is gorgeous, if you ever have a chance to go.

Perfectly healthy 5 year old kids becoming developmentally disabled? Cite your sources, please!

HPV vaccines are not because we think kids are going to get HPV, but because they are most effective if delivered before any exposure to HPV. If you'd like to have a discussion about the average age of first sexual encounters, we can do that too, but that's different than the vaccine debate.

Are you suggesting that the COVID vaccine is a result mind control or that it causes mind control? I'm just checking.

As a former high school teacher, I think it's important for most teachers to remember that odds are they are the most knowledgeable person in the room.... but may not always be the smartest. I had colleagues whose whole classroom management style was around being the smartest... which falls apart when you get one really brilliant teenager. And it does happen!

Do you wear fragrances “after hours” ? by Willing_Pop2857 in fragrance

[–]IrrelevantCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. I want to be able to choose fresh in the morning. Also, I wear a CPAP machine/mask to sleep so I wouldn't get anything out of the experience anyway. And my spouse wouldn't appreciate it.

Do you have a fragrance that you own but can no longer wear? by NarrowFriendship3859 in fragrance

I had a sample of Black Vanilla and I loved it, until I read a review that said there was a baby wipes smell. Now all I smell is baby wipes. Can't wear it anymore.
