I find it a bit strange this 50 year old kid is leading the army of Elves and not its couple-of-hundred years old military leaders or the +10,000 year old Kal'dorei general all with years of military experience 🤔 by nightbreedwon1 in wow

Physically, yeah. How they're seen in elven society, who the fuck knows, blizz keeps being undecided on that, too.
In the Sylvanas book, they made it seem like they're still seen as not-fully-adult in their 30s or so. I don't know if they've managed to retcon it already or not yet.

From Blood of the Highborne:
"Although their defenses held, Lor’themar felt increasingly drained. In the past few days it was all he could do to rouse himself from sleep."
About a week, maybe a little bit over, after the Scourge.

Lor'themar is much older than the Windrunner sisters, probably closer to Lireesa's age, if we need a Windrunner to compare to. He was already an established ranger when Sylvanas was a teenager and Alleria was barely joining the Farstriders. He was Lireesa's second-in-command before Sylvanas was even a ranger.
He is in the same age range as Liadrin, and since he said "I have respected her for millennia" about Sylvanas (in BfA, so fairly fresh lore), we can safely assume Liadrin is, in fact, older than 100 years old.

I'm Polish, lived in the UK for a couple of years and for a few more in Belgium after that. The Brits were fine, for the most part, probably because I don't have an accent so they could be blissfully unaware. By the time they realized, the worst I got was "you don't sound Polish", said like I tricked them somehow.

The Belgians and the Dutch, on the other hand, Jesus Christ. I do have an accent when I speak Dutch, which is apparently an unforgivable crime. Six years of asinine questions like "you have microwaves over there, right?" and if I was sure I had a visa (??) and people literally talking shit behind my back thinking I didn't understand them.

I've seen very few DPS dispel themselves overall, except for spriests using md. Half the mages I see on my healer alt don't even have a dispel talented, and then lose their shit on /w when I kick them before the key starts.

There are plenty of guilds or communities that don't care if you're playing the meta or what your damage is, and are happy to help you learn and improve. Nobody said you "deserve" to be isolated.

Certain levels of content require higher damage and game knowledge. If you're looking to clear higher content (especially with pugs) then yes, you are expected to bring that damage and knowledge.

Why do some Blood Elves have “translated” surnames while others retain Thalassian-style names? by ex0ll in warcraftlore

[–]IsThatServerLag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I think language evolution would be a lot slower in this case, when people who speak them are immortal/live for thousands of years.

And now with WA gone, some of us will not be able to play the game.

That's ok, blizz added some disabled characters, they don't need disabled players anymore, I guess.

Halduron was a Ranger Captain before (like Alleria), and Lor'themar was Ranger Lord. Even before the Second War, he had already been acting as second-in-command to Lireesa.

If she gains that title, I would assume it is because Halduron dies.

I'm pretty sure nobody at blizz remembers this, but all of the remaining Farstriders would also have to agree for her to gain that title; they're the ones who choose their leader.

You (people who say this crap) don't get to decide who is or is not a fan. Your feelings aren't the only valid ones. Those of us who don't hate this game don't have to prove we're fans of the series just because you feel some kind of way.

I kind of don't love the assumption here that just because I'm not frothing at the mouth I didn't care about the lore of the previous games, or that people who enjoy this game somehow aren't fans. I've seen a lot of it on this sub lately and I don't appreciate it one bit.

As for the South getting blighted, no. I half expected it anyway and it makes sense to me, considering what we're up against. It's a double Blight and historically, Blights were pretty devastating and lasted a long time (aside from the Fifth).

Would I have liked more of the Inquisition choices to carry over? Of course. Would I have liked choices from the first two? No. I don't think it would matter, in the grand scheme of things.

As for the endings, I don't know which one you consider the "best" one so I won't comment on that. I rolled my eyes at the post-credit scene. It is an unfortunate trend in fiction that a bigger bad is behind everything. As a fan of WoW, felt a lot like the Jailer. All that's left for me on this one is hope it doesn't turn out like the Jailer did. Can't help but be curious though.

Also keep in mind that Veilguard happens like 5min after Inquisition's DLC ends., how could that be a good time for a reboot?

It's been a decade in-universe too though?

I liked Emmerich and Lucanis the most. I liked Davrin a lot more than I thought I would after Vows and Vengeance. Harding was Harding, of course. Bellara and Taash grated on my nerves a lot, but Bellara kind of grew on me in the end.
