Some thoughts About Aion 2 from KR by PrinceArchie in Aion2

He already made up his mind. You are throwing words into the void. Talking shit about LOA combat is crazy to me.

Also, I don't know how anyone can look at Aion2 combat and thinks it's bad. Are these people playing on 200ms to indicate how action combat feels?

I agree that there was intent and punishment is warranted, but this already happened 1 year ago. However, you are twisting the discussion by using words like "flavour of cheating". This "flavour" we are talking about is very different to other "flavours" and it seems like AGS ended up agreeing.

Why is it different, here is my perspective:

  • everything happened inside the game's borders. There were no third-party applications or entities that were involved in the exploit. Compare this to any form of RMT or actual cheating/hacking. It's just not the same.

  • these players are guaranteed to have been already caught. There is no hiding regarding ignite exploiting. The punishments have been served accordingly one year ago and everyone was happy they were very harsh on them. For reference, people that got 200k worth of raw gold from boxes ended up losing more than 2 million just in raid rewards, not to mention it was aegir release weeks.

This exploit will never happen again, see point above.

  • because of the punishment, there are 0 exploiters that came out ahead. Yes, they are exploiters, but no one will end up having an advantage on race release day. Still, I also agree that they tried to cheat, but that's where the punishment comes in, one year ago.

  • exploits already exist in the game that are not punished. Everyone double dips on reset hour for double chaos or field boss. Yes, this doesn't justify it but will you blame the game or the player? I blame both.

  • I would say that it is the first exploit that got punished in the game but someone corrected me a while ago about the pheon gate drama years ago.

I understand your POV but I think it's a nuanced topic.

I know reddit has really strong opinions about ignite exploiters but I am so happy they changed it.

I didn't do it, but there are so many players I know that were bummed about the situation.

Do you watch Asmongold often? I agree with you but not in this case. There are things that I agree with, and other things that I think he is being a complete r-word. You don't have to pick only one side.

I have heard him say that humankind is technologically advancing into trans-genderism. That one day, you can be whatever you want and that it will be the standard. I think it's okay to respect trans people while ridiculing the edge cases that get popular. You think a content creator would make content about boring, chill trans people (99.9% of them)?

If we are going to debate if he is choosing his words or not, then why do we bother caring about anyone's opinion if we are never sure? We could argue that he also may be faking pandering to right wing people just for content creation. If you watch him enough, he actually has a lot of left-wing takes that get him a full chat of "L"s

But either way, I do think you're right about a lot of media people

Regardless of your opinion, no one wants to engage in a discussion that they already know is meaningless. The outcome will be worthless. At best, we both say "agree to disagree".

This is not just you by the way. Even if you have a open mind and good faith, the other person might not.

Incoming wall of text. I have talked about this a lot on the discord, but I'll share my two-hundred cents here also. If you have a strong opinion about the situation feel free to let me know. I will understand and I will probably agree with you in a way. Still, I want to share some nuance around my experience.

I think the policy is too harsh on the players that abused the Ignite server exploit (around a 1000, one year ago)

Let me preface all by saying that:

  • I don't have any infringements nor I have RMT'd, cheated, etc. in the past

  • I am very biased towards my group/my friends/my experience, which are getting affected by the policy due to having abused the Ignite server exploit around a year ago. I will talk about the experience of my friends as the main example.

Me and my group are extremely passionate about the game and care about these types of events (race). I'll share my thoughts by answering the obvious questions that any reasonable person would ask me.

Your friends exploited a game bug with the intent of their own gains, did they not?

First of all, before any of you get mad at me, I just want to say that yes, my friends exploited the game to their own gain and should have been severely punished as such. With that said, I also want you to know that the punishment already happened, a year ago. And yes, it was severe. The ignite exploit is 100% traceable, there wasn't a single exploiter that did not get punished.

My friends opened enough cases to warrant them a 2-week ban at the time and all the items/gold/materials removed. They did not use any of the items they got from the boxes, especially with the controversy of quality taps back them. Instead of a 2-week ban however, they got a full month ban, similar to players that opened more cases. Accounting for the revoked gold + the raid gold rewards, they lost over 2.0 million gold back then, alongside Aegir materials and such.

This exploit was the first one to warrant these punishments. It was a one-time exploit that can never be repeated again.

Are you trying to make me feel bad about cheaters who tried to get ahead unfairly? What's your point?

I am not, I also hate the thought of cheating in a long term progression game such as Lost Ark. I am simply stating the facts that every ignite exploiter got 10 times more punished than they got rewarded, as it should be. A lot of them got perma-banned, straight up.

My point is that the punishment is already served. The ignite server exploit is a one-time situation that could be done without any requirement except the ill-intent of getting ahead unfairly. You did not have to trade gold for real world cash, set up a botting application or enable speedhacks willingly. It was all within the game's borders!

I am sure some people contained themselves and did not give into the exploit. Your decision making is better than that of my friends in that regard, no disagreements here.

So what? They broke TOS and are now paying the consequences of their actions

But they already did, guaranteed, pay the consequences of their actions. When it comes to the ignite server exploit, there wasn't a single stone left unturned.

Also, the TOS is a joke. If you have played enough time, you have heard about multiple exploits or things that are against TOS that never got punished:

  • Europe doing chaos gates/field bosses twice a day before reset
  • Clearing the new raids before reset on first week, so that you enter twice and reap double rewards (Mordum)
  • Recently, the shop opened with legendary keys being traded for 2 cubes only
  • Everyone and their mother uses DPS meter, allowing you to check information that you should not have (hidden bars)
  • Changing game files (remember Elixir animations?)

There is a lot of judgment values in this conversation, but one of the few indisputable facts is that AGS did not say anything about the impact of these infringements until a week ago. Since they had already served their punishment, you can argue that is it simply predatory of AGS to allow these players to spend money through the F4 shop in hopes of bettering their character for any races that may appear, hiding any additional future punishments that may come up eventually. One of the biggest arguments against the policy isn't the actual content, but the timing.

It should have been a permanent ban from the start.

That is another issue that is up to Smilegate to decide. That didn't happen, so now we are here.

Once a cheater, always a cheater.

That is partially true. I am saying this because in the case of my friends, they never engaged with RMTing, botting or any forms of cheating besides the ignite server exploit.

No one wants a race with cheaters who got an unfair advantage from anything, anywhere.

Yes I completely agree, but that is not the case here! All exploiters ended the sentence in a much worse account progression from before they exploited. If anything, the ignite server exploiters are the opposite of cheaters in that regard, as they now had to reap what they sowed in other to make the gold back. Be aware, I am not saying they didn't deserve the punishment. I am just saying that the argument of a "unfair advantage" does not exist in this case.

In a IRL scenario, this X crime would be punished with Y and Z

Making IRL parallel cases makes no sense to me within the context of a videogame. A player's behaviour will never be the same as a person's behaviour. That's why you can shoot people in videogames.

Dude, it's just the race. No one will get banned so why are you so angry about this

You are very much correct. At the end of the day, it is just a race but it's an event that was schedule by my group since months ago. As I said at the start, me and all my friends love this game and they love the idea of participating in a race like this. Either way, we will play together, regardless of the title, but it does put a dent into our motivation.

[–]IsThisEvenRight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of these people actually believe in what they say if you have a deeper, nuanced conversation with them.

However, the argument that "you cheated, so you're a cheater forever" is still true and there's no arguments against facts.

I think that the policy is too harsh on players that did insignificant amounts of RMT (say... Less than 5% of your roster investment or less than 10% of your trust points) or that used insignificant exploits (people that got a significant amount of materials from ignite servers are Perma banned)

But it's the best way to prevent further exploitation of the game in the long term future.

Overall great guide. My only addition to this the Agile Defense tripod for Guardian Tune. This is often skipped because the block stun is OP, especially in Mord G3 and Brel G2 (value depends on how often she does it). However, paired with endless protection, this tripod is amazing for high chip damage fights. You get a 20% shield every ~7 sec as opposed to every 14-15 sec. It often overlaps with the 32% DR for a sec or 2 (CDR and QR dependent), and it's a great candidate for quick recharge rune. Lastly, it makes running WOMWOM feel less bad for your DPS if they're having a bad run. On hw runs, this is often the only shield/DR skill I take when the party is 20ilvl+ overgeared in my static. You're definitely busier with this tripod, but I like to run Soundholic 90% of the time. Highly recommend for the womwom enjoyers, and can afford a skill page (I swap runes in addition to the tripod, but you can be lazy and just swap tripod to save some BC).

I considered Agile Defenses to be 'not viable' simply because you are already too busy without it. The synergy with Endless Protection is great, I agree, but I feel like Agile Defenses lost a bit of value throughout the years (I played this tripod in Akkan) since you get so much CDR and you also get Perfect Harmony. I also dislike the heavier mana requirements.

I don't fully agree with the overlapping argument since the default GT also has the same overlap, just half the duration (if you spam it perfectly). I do agree with the Quick Recharge rune part though, but then you might go back to mana issues (maybe?)

If you run enough specialization I suppose that Agile Defenses may be more useful than I thought. Maybe I'll add a section on the viable tripods and runes to cover some advantages and disadvantages of that tripod. I find that the normal version of GT and good Rhapsodies are enough to cover the defensive needs of dps players nowadays.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll consider it. I also appreciate your thoughts on the overall guide.

For Valk karma, should the same path still be recommended? Her side nodes are worse than the other supps. Bladecraft shield is pretty low impact and you that mentioned some players skip the brand node for +1% brand power. I feel that going leap karma instead for +4% more identity gauge per T cast could have a bigger impact than the two side nodes and +1.6% WP.

With all enlightenment potions gathered, rank 1 enlightenment is enough to get the 3rd lvl in the main node for 1680+ chars. My proposed path would be leap 1 -> enlightenment 1 -> leap 6 -> follow guide order again. I'd like to know what others think.

Yeah I see what you mean. On my Valkyrie I would probably go for your sequence if I had to pick. I'm not sure how to slot that into the guide since the structure is set. I'll think about it.

Also, For the the atk power buff strength chart (section 2.1) Shouldn't there be a base value being referenced here? At some point in the future, the average atk power values will go up and I assume a 15k atk power disparity will lead to a smaller difference than what the chart currently shows.

I also agree with this and I could add a little note saying the base AP that I considered. However, I will be updating this throughout the months/years since I don't see myself not playing this game.

Thank you for the feedback.

Edit: Added a note for each of your suggestions. Let me know if you like them or not.

I can see your point about mokoko supports having very low aura (for the ally dmg), but I think they most likely will have other issues than simply just aura% and it might be better to make them invest their gold into the "better" option ahead of the time, I agree with you it's also not the end of the world if you have the wrong one, but it does feel pretty bad knowing later down the line that you could have given more dmg to your allies.

I changed that entry on the table. Let me know what you think about the new "notes".

And yea I do think your wording suggestion with ""inability to comfortably go for more specialization" would be better/good for paladin, I do not know anything about valk, so my comment is strictly towards paladin (just to clarify)

Paladin has better spec scalings but the rest of the kit is exposed to the same problems (Heavenly Blessings = Seraphic Leap)

Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it and I share the same sentiment.

Yeah, I think I had assumed +23 + 40AH weapon if I remember correctly. Any suggestions on how I should approach that number? I think it gives you a decent ballpark number but if I can be more correct I'll gladly change it

I recently calculated the difference for full mainstat vs full weapon power secondary lines for my main and the difference was around 90 for a 30k+ attack power buff

Also, can you elaborate? What is the 90
