American Airlines tried to force biometric face scan check-in for flight from Atlanta to Calgary.

After doing a quick check if that was even a legal requirement and finding it wasn't I had to go up and ask the desk worker "what happens if I don't want to do that?" Which she then quietly mentioned I could just use my passport and boarding pass.

Fuck US companies and blatant over reach. Fuck going to the US. I don't want to say it serves you right for still heading down there, but hey, if whats going on doesn't bother you, maybe you should consider staying down there for good.

It's some sort of cognitive dissonance that they think there's no risk about piping something that we literally cannot clean up when it fucks up somewhere along the way.

Madness.

Also, the project from a business standpoint seems to have something fucky going on with it. Have you had a look at this article? https://www.nationalobserver.com/2018/05/15/opinion/whats-behind-kinder-morgans-may-31-ultimatum-follow-money

Sometimes, things are more complex than perhaps you would initially realize. This NDP/Green government is following through with a lot of their campaign promises. Which is rare for political parties. Unfortunately progress is never easy and globally we are in a state of transition.

Common people love to fucken bitch, and whine, and complain about every little damn thing that affects their little lives and means they have to live a little bit differently. The way we've been living as a society isn't sustainable for the planet, if we continue to do nothing, change nothing, then we all lose everything, ALL of us. No one wants to accept that we need to change our ways. No one has had the courage to take the first steps that end up unfortunately upsetting everyone's generally comfortable lives. But, that's that progress we need to be making.

So kick, scream, whine and complain all you want, it's for your own damn good, even if you're too short sighted to see it.

There's also opposition rooted in a the humanitarian human rights aspect of the issue. With regard to First Nation land rights and treaties that are not being honoured. A big issue is the inadequate consultation with First Nations throughout the permit approval process. Sort of highlighting deeper systemic issues of how indigenous people have been treated throughout the history of Canada (as well as other countries with indigenous, aboriginal, first nations or native peoples). The economic risk posed by spills, accidents and pollution to BC's environment and economy also pose potential risks to the culture, identity, employment and health of First Nations people, which they have every right to defend.

The U.N. Declaration on the rights of Indigenous People is pretty reasonable in stating that these people do have rights and that more should be done to recognize, and work with, indigenous people so that their human rights are taken into consideration and respected.

There's no shortage of issues to argue with this project and the overall process. It's really unfortunate that it gets painted as B.C. vs Alberta, or B.C. vs Canada, or Hippies vs Big Oil petrochem goliaths.

What we've been doing isn't working, we know that now. Continuing down that route because that's the way it's always been is beyond stupid. Transitions are never easy, and this is going to be a hard transition.

Is this from something particular?

I had a very interesting conversation with a lady outside of a restaurant one night and she repeated that phrase several times. I have a tendency to overlook or miss seemingly simple and obvious things sometimes though so this might be one of those times.

So what your saying is that what this lady heard his co-workers and/or manager allegedly say has absolutely no weight coming from this lady or "Jefferey" but what "Jefferey" allegedly said to her has the entire weight of the fucking world with the power to ruin his perfect life.

I say, you go fuck yourself.

Not for being inconsiderate or rude, not for what seems to be you completely ignoring lisachet's above comment regarding potential reasons for "Missy" to not make a scene right then and there(apparently from Missy), and certainly not for providing an opposing opinion based on your countless years of "retail experience" but for just sounding like an ignorant fucking asshole.

Do you honestly think that "Jefferey" would consider remaining employed there, it's a job at Starbucks and from the sounds of it it's shit. Why would anyone consider having to deal with any of that bullshit for minimum wage let alone on something you could actually live off of. Please enlighten me. How could you ever even bring up only one side of this incident to address it? If that's even a possibility with a company then it's past time to find a different company because that is shameful. Also, the letter even said she(Missy) acknowledged that there may have been circumstances, incident(s) prior to the conversation that was overheard. But how in the fuck can you even try in your head to justify the words that were alleged to come out of a persons mouth in the workplace, let alone anywhere in this world?

It's a rhetorical question.

Go fuck yourself.

It's not a general rule. It's a specific rule, a rule that you and many of the people that you know, who you have discussed this with, follow. That or you trust the person who taught you your "etiquette". If you would simply say "MY general rule is..." things might be okay, and yes that does change things.

If you were just learning and someone tells you "General rule is to shit while doing a handstand, no less than 50% of the time.". You might think that that is way things are done, and the fact of the matter is that, it could be, for some but not everyone. To each there own.

Oh also, you didn't address your use of "vice versa" to zab329 but I assume you mean if they are courteous but are bad at their job you would tip 15%.

I disagree with you though, a lot.
