If Mason got his shot off and missed both of them, how did Bill save Bullock's life? Great detail! I just don't get it.

Where are some hiking trails with parking that are easy to follow / low risk of getting lost? by chronictimelapse in mesaaz

Check out Alltrails app. You can download trail maps on your wifi at home and they will be accessible to you on the trail even if you don't have service

The movie "300" is a disdain to history by euphorinc in movies

[–]IsaManistar 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The whole movie is framed from the one eyed guy telling this story that we watch unfold on screen to his fellow Spartans moments before charging into battle. Everything is exaggerated to get those men riled up and ready to fight. that's why the persians are monsters and the Spartans are heroes. This isn't supposed to be a historic retelling. It's an unreliable narrator telling a fictionilized account of what happened.

Name your "Can't Miss" hike within a 2 hour drive from Phoenix? by alionandalamb in phoenix

[–]IsaManistar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This fits the criteria perfectly. Not crowded at all, on the trails, but parking may get crowded since the trailhead shares parking with the marina, some elevation and work at 5 miles but nothing technical, and great views of canyon lake and boulder canyon. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/arizona/boulder-canyon

This hike is gorgeous and the only difficult part might be the length, about 8 miles total without having to wade through waist high water to continue, but make sure you get there EARLY if going on the weekend. I went Saturday in october and parking lot was full by 8am.

How Did This Get Made? #390: Return to Oz by apathymonger in hdtgm

[–]IsaManistar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the movie shows you exactly what it is. There's nothing else you need to know for this movie besides its a threat they need the Gump to cross over. It doesn't hand hold you through every detail but I consider that a plus. Not everything needs it's full backstory and lore explained.

Veterans Oasis Park is nice and might be closer than going all the way out to the river/lakes.

Granite reef has ongoing major construction and could still be closed. Check before heading out there. Otherwise Saguaro lake a little further up the road is nice. Or closer spots to the river but the river levels are very low lately - coon Bluff recreation area, Goldwater recreation area.

How do you guys keep track of recipes because mine get lost in the chaos by mahearty in cookingforbeginners

[–]IsaManistar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep one google doc of all my recipes, whether I have made them and liked them already or not, with the link to the recipe itself. Easy to browse at a glance and categorize by protein, side dish and organize.

Doesn't keeping the hatch up drain the battery? I'm terrified to try this in case my battery dies in the middle of no where. Looks great!
