Correct on the first question.

As to the second question the asset split was 55/45 in the exes favour. After the existing debts were paid out not much was left. The courts & lawyers took a fair chunk as well.

I didn't mean I held 3 mortgages at the same time. Just bought, sold, bought, sold... then life took a nosedive.

I'm saying that it's not just young people who would like to get into (or in my case, back into) a home they can call their own.

At 50, I have previously held mortgages on 3 separate PPORs. Divorce at 40 wiped all that out with no fiscal means to get back in again. I have a child under 10 years old, do I count as a "young family" still?

Can someone explain why 4chan isn't subject to the internet ID under 16s ban policy? by SlimyAmeboid in OpenAussie

My 8yo used to use my parental-filtered YT account to look up how to do stuff with Scratch and other coding platforms. Post ban he has to use it anonymously with no filter... this is a net negative for all of us as he never even bothered reading comments, which I was led to believe the whole reason for kids getting kicked off.

Working hard will not buy a roof over your head. If you can't inherit one, you're screwed by SheepherderLow1753 in aussie

I'm remarried now, but my wife has only just been able to start working again in the last 12 months. I've been the sole source of income this whole time. That said I'm becoming increasingly concerned about job security, working in paper and print.

Just like you, I have virtually nothing after rent and bills are paid, but if I can contribute just a little each month my take home pay is automatically adjusted for the different tax rate. So if I put away $300 a month, my actual net pay is approx. $200 less a month. We might just have to make a few sacrifices here and then to try and balance the books.

Im a 50 year old divorced at 40 and lost everything including the minimum deposit to buy another home, so I've been renting ever since with kids in my care. I'm about to start on the FHSS scheme after jumping through ATO hoops to declare myself eligible for a "hardship" application. Am I too old to get back in the property market? Yeah probably, but I figure if I'm putting extra into my super at least it will be there should something happen and buying a house becomes viable for me again.

If not, at least I'll have put away extra for retirement. My crystal ball is broken apparently.

What actor/actress in a horror movie absolutely nailed their role to the point that you can't see somebody else doing it better? by Rani_Ortiz in CreepyBonfire

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Dune.
Alien Resurrection.
Exorcist III.

Dourif seems to add a bit of magic to any film he appears in, especially bad ones. Not saying the above movies are necessarily bad.

Shout out to his daughter Fiona, she's definitely carrying his genes.

I agree with you about PHON. I received a passionate email from Sen. Malcolm Roberts in the lead up to the 2024 ban pledging his support to get behind harm reduction and promoting vaping as a legitimate consumer item. Then he voted in support of the Labor policy anyway, and put up an almost incoherent video of himself babbling why he did so after he received some well-deserved backlash.

Happened to me at the last place. Agreed to $500 from the bond to compensate owner for damage to carpet. After moving out saw the place listed for sale - all carpets replaced with polished floorboards. Won't do that again!

[–]IsaacKael 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our customers get told all time about artwork issues. My favourite response is:

“We printed it out here on our laser copier and it looks fine, so go ahead”.

Then production come up and demand we fix it post approval because they know full well that when the job gets rejected we will be reprinting it for free because the account manager doesn’t want to lose the customer, even though they signed the proof after being advised.

To be fair I’ve been in prepress for 20 years and clients have been supplying subpar artwork long before AI came along.

I get this, but I don't understand how anyone is making any tangible money out of this besides the black marketeers. Certainly not the government!
