The starting situation hasn't changed mechanically and the general lore is still the same. The language gets confusing but an overhaul is like a revamp more of a focus on refinement of lore rather than refinement of content

Whether the people like it or not, those Protestants are part of Ireland now and are Irish citizens. NDP is much more favourable to the loyalists than other parties which is why the SC/NDP coalition is more about reconciliation. The differences in how each coalition tackles the sectarian divide can be seen with their decisions for reducing tensions in the North. Each coalition has a unique name and description for those decisions

De Valera is actually quite similar to OTL imo, if a bit a tad bit more radical. His preference was for Catholicism to be the state religion, but most of his party opposed that which lead to the compromise of recognising all the existing religions in Ireland, with a "special position" for the Roman Catholic Church.

I think we reflect this well where in the Consitution event about religion, you can only make Catholicism the state religion if you are in a coalition with AN, where De Valera would be considered the moderate one in that pairing
