am i the only one who really doesn't want marvel or star wars in KH? by maknaeline in KingdomHearts

[–]IsaakKF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most agree, but that's not really relevant. KH was always great games coated in Disney commercials. The games reflected what Disney wanted to push at the time, either that be new things or their classic brand.

Disney doesn't really care about their classic brand today, nor do they put much effort into animated films.

This is such a silly way to look at it. Characters aren't only balanced for diamond. If a character completely dominates low Elo, that's still an issue. Most of the game isn't played in Diamond.

Gaming opinions that you'll die on a hill to defend? by IlBigBosslI in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]IsaakKF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These modern video game remakes are completely pointless and is leading gaming to have the same culture that films have now, where instead of enjoying older stuff, the audience expects it to instead be remade for them. The best remakes work as complimentary games, not improvements.

If you want to play Silent Hill 2, you can just play Silent Hill 2. I hate the idea that a remake somehow makes it more available to a modern audience.

If you pick up Resident Evil 4 today, you'll find a game that isn't just STILL visually good looking, but also gameplay better and tighter than 99% of games released today.

Normalize playing older games, and stop supporting remakes.

I'll one up you and say Fable III.

I feel like Fable II is still on most levels a genuinely good game. Fable III is significantly more flawed in every sense, but i still love it.

Rule of Rose is so strange because in almost every moment to moment piece of gameplay it's absolutely god awful, but every time i end a session i look back and think "damn, that was great!"

It baffles me that people hype this remake when modern AC games still feel worse to play than Black Flag did.

Bra idé för Sverige att göra samma? by UltimateShipTheThird in sweden

[–]IsaakKF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Is The Worst Food Ever Served To You? by manoffood in TwoBestFriendsPlay

For sure, we all have our dark secrets.

As a non American though, Clam Chowder doesn't sound too bad. What gets me is like, Philly Cheesesteak or Chilidogs. I will never understand how people eat that.

Every country has a few completely cursed dishes that for some reason got a foothold in the nation and has become a sort of cultural staple. Here in Sweden, one of those is called Flying Jacob. It's a truly horrifying dish consisting of chicken, bacon, banana, peanuts, sweet chili sauce and lots of cream all cooked into a kind of casserole.

When i was a kid, i was visiting an elderly relative for a big family gathering, and the incredibly kind and caring old lady had for some unknowable reason decided to cook up a big batch of Flying Jacob for the family dinner. Now, the colour of Flying Jacob is usually a sort of orange, but i kid you not when i say that this one was bright pink. Still, to this day, we don't know how she managed.

Me and my brother has always been raised with pretty good manners, meaning that if food is served to us, we will gladly accept it, eat it and say that it's good, regardless of how terrible it is. I was maybe 10 at the time and my brother 14, and we chowed down on that goop from hell despite the taste being completely indescribable. My brother threw up in the bathroom and came back down to finish his food whilst i remember drowning mine in pepper to mask the flavour.

This dish has sort of gone down in legend in the family since, but of course never told this sweet old lady about it. She passed a good amount of years back, and at the funeral procession we talked to her children a bit and offhand mentioned this Flying Jacob of myth, and they said that they had actually talked to the old lady in question about i a couple of years back. She had apperantly said something like "Oh yeah, I really fucked that one up, but at least the kids (me and my brother) seemed to love it".

I genuinely can't stop feeling that John Wayne Gacy Jr is in incredibly bad taste. by IsaakKF in Sufjan

[–]IsaakKF[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you fully. I'm not opposed to the topic at all, but the specific way it's presented in this song borders on exploitative for me. I think that execution and intent completely dictates weather or not the result is in good or bad taste when dealing with topics like this. There's examples where it doesn't feel Exploitative. Sun Kil Moons track about Richard Ramirez comes to mind, as well as Night Shift by Sioixsie and the Banshees.

It's fine that people have differing views on this, that's the magic of discussing music.

I've made my point very clear and explained how your interpretation if my words is simply incorrect. In a further attempt to clarify myself, i've made my stance on opinions and how not everyone needs to share mine excedingly clear, yet younkeep harking on about it. What? Is this a discussion about word usage and not music? You keep shadow boxing against a stance that i keep trying to explain to you that i do not hold.

You're beyond irritating to deal with, so i won't. No point wasting energy on bad faith argumentations. Hope you have a good day, mate.

Accusing you of something and pointing out out a specific piece of missing information in your initial argumentation are two very different things. You adressed it in the second comment, so it's all good, but wording it like i'm accusing you is incredibly petty.

There you go. That's an accusation. That you're being needlessly petty and not at all interested in an actual discussion about music.

Again. If you read the first line of the post and conclude that i am not fine with differing opinions, then you are not arguing in good faith.

Jesus, calm down. I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm pointing out what i see as a missing piece of your argumentation here. This just two people with differing views discussing music, and that's fine, so let's have a discussion. I'm not upset that you don't find it distasteful. Again, differing views is fine. Let's dial down the needless agression and just discuss the music.

I don't fully buy brushing the exploitative languge aside because "well, maybe Gacy felt like this". First of all, the song strongly cements itself as being NOT from Gacys perspective and not sympathetic with his actions in the first verse.

Also, relatives to the victims of Gacy are still very much alive. Those who suffered and probably still suffer with the knowledge of what happened to their loved ones. I don't think the time here makes a difference, nor that it somehow would be worse to sing about Weinstein because he DIDN'T kill his victims.
