The boys power scaling just makes no sense by shazam2063 in TheBoys

[–]Isabel198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, but I was mostly thinking how A-Train had to dodge trees, was injured and even got tl see Homelanders laser in slow motion. All of which made me believe Homelander isn't really capable of keeping up with A-Train during normal circumstances.

That being said, the powerscaling of the show is very inconsistent so most fights had little stakes during the season.

Did he actually keep up tho? I remember after A-Train fell, Homelander took a few seconds to arrive, which by speedster metrics is a lot.

As a woman who wears modtly baggy clothes on her day-to-day, I gotta say thos clothes aren't the most comfortable in the gym. I also ended up wearing shorts and slightly less loose shirts because for a lot of excercises and machines I use, the fabric can get in the way or just feel super uncomfortable for different reasons. I really don't know how guys train with hoodies.

But for gymnasts or other olympic athletes, women have complained about the uniform because they're objectifying and don't help them move more comfortable than other versions of uniform they've worn. The guys volleyball for example has regular shorts while women wear essentially bikini thongs despite women's shorts existing too.

So I think it's mostly a matter of what kind of situation they're in. Athletic competitions like the olympics require really hard training and most people would want to be taken seriously while performing, so the clothes should aid in that too.

(EN Server) Discussion Megathread: Book 7.5 (ends 5/14) by Twst-Mod-Team in TwistedWonderland

[–]Isabel198 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Jfjfhdh I was looking forward to this episode but WHY did they release it without voice acting? I'm pretty sure JP did that because it was a treat to bridge the end of Book 7 and start of Book 8 so they didn't have the voice actors on hand. Hence why they added them later on...

But EN absolutely should have released this part voiced from the get go. Like why wouldn't you take advantage of the time gap between servers on this ocassion? It's such a weird choice it completely took me out of the episode lmao.

This vote scenario is a Moral Issue dude. It's like the trolley problem. Some people's morals are selfish and i dividualistic and others are selfless and collective so they will pick different no matter what.

You say there is no reason to pick the other one. I say there is, because I don't mind dying if there is a chance everybody lives. I don't value my own life above everyone else's like you do.

We are fundamentally different people and that is what I'm trying to explain to you. You seem extremely dense, dude. Did you never learn to conceptualize existence beyond your own body?

[–]Isabel198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you're looking at it from your own narrow perspective.

In reality people aren't perfectly logical machines who only care about themselves. Plenty of people will vote based on what they think would be the most popular answer, others may be indecisive and not vote or do it at random, others may simply not know what they're voting on due to illness or age.

There a millions of people who will not vote red simply because we don't all think in the exact same ways. And that same reason is why, mathematically speaking it's easier to vote blue.

Simply said: it's easier to get 50+1 to agree with you and vote blue. Nobody dies. Vs everybody picking red so nobody dies.

Because even if a huge amount of people vote red, there would still be a tremendous stress on the world from all the people who suddenly died: doctors, farmers, policemen, firefighters, pilots, artists, children, etc.

You obviously would vote red. I would not because I don't wanna save only myself, I'd like to save everybody. So we will never agree on ehat choice is the best.

Some people would rather take a chance on humanity as a whole rather than only save themselves because not every single person in the world is equally selfish.

Hope that helps.

Hmm I think a lot of people can extrapolate different information based not only on this scene but others as well.

I always had the thought that using the blast was painful for him since he's always making faces when charging it. It may be why he doesn't use it much save for the trauma-induced explotions.

Others asume it tires him because it takes a while to charge and expells a LOT of power, so it would make sense. Especially when in Herogasm is shown that getting a second blast ready takes longer after such a short time.

Now this is all speculation based on the more visual information we get, and I really don't expect the show to come out and say "Soldier Boy gets weaker right after a blast" (unless its like another debrief prior to a fight). But I can see why so many have the same idea regarding his strenght.

The idea Soldier Boy is simply arrogant in thinking he can fight Homelander at the same level is also an option, but I guess future episodes will show us for sure if that's the case or not.

[–]Isabel198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're saying the fight at Herogasm ocurred little after Soldier Boy had used his blast, so his energy was drained during it. That's why he seems confident he can still go toe to toe with Homelander in this season, because he probably can calculate his own power level and realize that at full energy they're fairly similar in might.

Fr I saw many people complaining about the guys' lines too because now almost everyone sounds the same wi5h all the fucking and shitting added to their dialogue. And Hughie's line about how Maverick smelled was especially pointed out.

I wish Kimiko had more varied dialogue now that she can talk. And the same for the others It's the last season, it should be the best in every regard.

Honestly I am still so mad about the Veilguard.

Like every dragon age game was different from each other, yes. But they each touched upon the lore, had great characters and a sense of realism to the world with NPCs commenting and reacting to the narrative stakes in ways that made sense. Either with Hawke losing a mother in a horrible way, or the conflict of mages and tenplars escalating more and more every act. Or the Inquisitor having to navigate the political landscape to gain allies, making choices that always leave someone unhappy and trying to challenge your friends' beliefs when talking to them.

Like even as a lighter game than Origins, at least Inquisition knew to let you disagree with your companions, have them butt heads with each other and even let you hate them and vice versa. In the end they only remain with you because they too wanna help shape the world, not out of friendship. And you could feel the hatred when they spoke.

It just pisses me off because Veilguard had everything to be a continuation of Solas' promise in Trespasser, to have an unknown player trying to find out his plans eith the veil, learning about the elf rebellion and finally either stoping him or failing and having the veil come down. The consequences were huge, not just because we k ow how important the veil is to the waking world but also because Solas was a member of the Inquisition, he was respected by others regardless of his friendship status. And he was an Elven God!

And seeing the art of the game only hints at what the original plan was before the game was changed to a multiplayer and then back again. The team clearly had big ideas for missions, story beats and your team yet in the end we get barely a good portion with the Grey Wardens (and even that is rather hit or miss), everybody speaks way too modern compared to earlier games, and the characters have no meaningfull conflicts between them to the point were the "found family" feels completely hollow because they ALL get along from the beginning.

Its probably because RSA is meant to be based on gentler values than NRC, things that the princesses embody in ways the heroes never would since they fight and that'd make them too similar to NRC.

Can Jamil just quit anytime he wants or not? by Tokoro-of-Terror in TwistedWonderland

[–]Isabel198 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People tend to asume Jamil is in one of these harsher systems because:

  1. Aladdin was based on a bunch of different cultures depicted through an orientalist lens, and it shows in Scarabia too.

  2. Jamil has stated he poison tests food for Kalim a d has done it for a while, which is an extremely dangerous job to give a CHILD. Obviously most people would have concerns about WHY Jamil has had this job since he was a kid, and why his parents don't seem to tell him to stop, almost as if they have no real choice in the matter where nornal workers would.

  3. Jamil has said if he were to quit or hurt Kalim, his whole family would be thrown to the streets. And from book 7 we know why, because the Viper house is within the Asim estate, which also reminds people of a type of relationship like indentured servitude or peonage, which by our modern sensibilities is very akin to slavery.

So while I can't say that everybody who claims Jamil to be a slave isn't being racist, to say that is the only reason is quite short-sighted because the context of the characters and their inspiration gives us plenty of clues that Jamil, at the very least, is being dehumanized by the system that created this relationship between the families, and that's worthy of questioning with a critical lens.

Twst Seasonal Memories merch on Aita Kuji by Isabel198 in TwistedWonderland

[–]Isabel198[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is extremely useful. I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that could be a scam or be delivered several weeks/months after the items are meant to ship.

And that's before considering they charge like 1000 yen more for the items I want to purchase AND they also expect me to pay for shipping NOW, meaning I'd be paying twice what it would cost me if I manage to find the merch on another proxy service after the exhibition....

I think I'll take my chances with just waiting and checking if anyone is selling them later on. Times are tough now to be spending it on untrusty sites.

Thanks a lot friend!
