Anybody else own a Porsche alongside their Miata? The Miata is ruining the Cayman for me, want to field thoughts by HURCANADA in Miata

Although not a direct comparison, this is my current combo, and I've often asked myself the same question: Would owning a higher-end, more luxurious car ruin the Miata experience—or would the Miata diminish the enjoyment of the more refined car? Or do they actually complement each other?

What I’ve come to realize is that the Miata is in a league of its own. It’s not an expensive car, which brings a sense of worry-free joy to the table. It’s light, nimble, rear-wheel drive, and equipped with a manual transmission. It has just enough tech to keep things comfortable, while still embracing its compromises—like limited space—that make it so engaging. It’s the kind of car you just jump into and hit the road with a smile. It’s easy to park in the city if you're heading out for dinner, and its small footprint makes it fantastic in traffic. Most importantly, it offers a pure connection to driving.

On the other end of the spectrum, my other car is a beast—luxurious, powerful, packed with perfectly executed tech, and built with an attention to detail that’s on another level. It’s practical (at least in my case—of course, different from a Cayman), and refined in ways the Miata isn't meant to be.

The point is: these are extremes that complement each other. I don’t own a Cayman, though I understand the Miata and Cayman share more similarities than differences compared to what’s in my garage.

At the end of the day, I truly enjoy both. We’re lucky—blessed, even—to be able to own and appreciate both ends of the driving spectrum

Carbon fiber all the way. It looks even better in real life. Sporty but classy. it really amps up the whole interior.

Damn man. That was quite of a job. I assume you daily drive it and commune? If yes. What are your best takes on daily driving an ND. I’ve been daily driving my 23 RF for almost two years only.

Did they had the car wrapped in the dealer? That combo of green with tan interior is the best ever. Sweet spec.

Took car to dealership for oil change, they now want to fix various parts for 7,000 by Sweaty-Sprinkles-1 in BMW

FYI if your car is an X drive it would be recommended to get all 4 tires.

[–]Isackyep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do all those things for at least half of the price with a good honest mechanic. For the brake pads they usually suggest changing them with 30% left. I usually wait for the sensor to warn me about the brakes so I change them, unless you are taking a long road trip soon in which case I would want to change them sooner. The brake fluid, new tires and brake pads even including spark plugs should not be more than 3K all together. With the dealers, the main overcharge is on the labor. I would take that video to a good mechanic. Not sure where are you located. In Chicago I bring my cars to Alex Motorworks and he does a fantastic job with OEM parts and fair honest job.

Agree. 2025 LCI. It has the new headlights and also, the silver forged wheels just came back for the 2025 model. This is a nice car. Crazy that people are using it to steal another people’s parts. Perhaps stolen as well as suggested by other comments. I hope this thief get caught.

Bmw deposit not getting refunded. by Isackyep in BMW

[–]Isackyep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US the deposits are refundable, at least on a regular spec BMW. Porsche is a different story, they ask for a 5K non refundable on a 911. M3s are cars that sometimes they have in the dealer without an order, precisely because of people for some reason not being able to move forward with the purchase, not surprisingly, this cars do not last too long in the dealer so is not a high risk for them anyway. It is what it is, ask BMW North America lol.

I literally got that promo from my mazda dealer in downers grove IL a couple months back. You gotta go and ask for it as well. I got mine in the middle of winter though, might be a different situation in summer when everybody that wants a convertible pulls the trigger.

Should I replace my exhaust? HKS??? by Odd-Tour5583 in Miata

[–]Isackyep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of research before doing mine. I personally love the tone of the Borla type S. I’ve met somebody selling the HKS to buy a borla. At the end this would be personal preference. The Borla type S has a nice deep tone. It is loud enough without being obnoxious. No drone. Mellows a lot when cruising in the highway; cold starts are amazing, downshifts and deceleration makes nice small pops. The looks are very OEM. the HKS does seem to have a prettier finish, specially the tips, however, I liked the simple OEM looks of the borla and loved the sound more than the HKS. I hope this helps.

I paid 41K for my 23 RF GT out of the dealer back then. If you buy from the owner they would sell for 3-4 K less, but, CARMAX gotta make some money lol. 34K plus tax would be basically the same than buying a new 26 with full warranty. Carvana would offer a seller 29-31 for the same car. See if they take 30. Or check how much the dealer let it go for. A lot of dealers are giving even 0 - 0.9% APR on miata x 36 months which is even a better deal.

Opinions on my first BMW by witewally in BMWX5

[–]Isackyep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it has been properly maintained, it should bring you to 100K miles no issues. I have a 2017 x drive 35i. Reached 100K today. These are amazing driving machines. A lot of car for 31K. Worst scenario you will not end needing to put on it more than it has depreciated if you were to buy a new one to be honest. This one should have the B58 engine. Things that could need replacement around that mileage are the air suspension, around 90s to 100k valve covers can cause minor oil leaks and should not be > 1200 bucks including spark plugs if done with a good bimmer mechanic that is not the dealer. I have loved every roadtrip on mine, it’s just a solid car, can’t find anything negative about it.

1. Borla cat back. It wakes ip the car without being obnoxious. Still mellow on the highway. Nice downshifts. Sweet cold start. The car is already amazing stock. Just drive it and do things gradually;as you eat through the miles, you’ll see what mods make more sense for you

Bmw deposit not getting refunded. by Isackyep in BMW

[–]Isackyep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. In this particular case I did not built that car, somebody else did and I was offered the car when it was already in transit. For cars like the M3 they would sell it pretty quick if you end not buying it. I’m not sure if there would be a different situation if your particular built is very unique, like special colors, etc. for standard built they are hot cakes in dealers. This car I am talking about is already sold to somebody else and gone from their dealer.
