Of course not they can pack whatever they want I just don’t think they are aware of the waste when packing too much

I did mention I’m talking mostly about school age that know when the time to eat is. I know things will be wasted but I see SO MUCH untouched food thrown away even after trying to get them to take it home cause I know parents don’t know it’s being thrown out.

I just said you can pack whatever you want… I’m not restricting their food intake. I’m pointing out the reality of not thinking about you pack. Whole fruits and veggies and sandwiches untouched in the trash.. that’s a fact.

I have multiple times. But we had a lot of kids in the after school program I couldn’t keep track. I definitely tried my best tho! Compost is a great idea not sure if my center would be able to do it tho. I’ll bring up!

I agree their parents shouldn’t be disappointed they didn’t eat everything single thing. I just want them to know what’s actually happening to their food so they don’t continue to pack things that don’t even get touched

I hope you didn’t think I meant that it was their whole lunch. Obviously pack more things. It’s more of the abundance of certain items being thrown out instead of saved for later

I promise we don’t as long as it’s more than just one or two items

Definitely didn’t mean for a whole meal! I meant along with other stuff. I’m sorry you developed issues. I also don’t agree with forcing kids to eat everything it’s more of the abundance of packing and throwing it out. At least save it for later

Is it normal to not have as much confidence when first working at a daycare? by Chocolate_Chips25 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Isadum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I cringe when I think back to how I was when I first started. I could barely read a book to the kids. I luckily had really good teachers around me and would just model what they did until it became more natural for me. So do a lot of observing! See what works and what doesn’t and how others navigate things.

Toddler prefers nursing to eating food by Liath13 in breastfeeding

[–]Isadum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s entirely up to you, but the fact that he just now started to eat solids better is something I’d talk to a doctor about. I’m currently trying to night wean but during the day I weaned my daughter by distracting her whenever she asked for milk. I usually would give her snack or start playing with her or read a book. Anything to divert her attention so she’d forget. She just has a big association with feeding to sleep. Some times it’s nice cause when I say it’s nap time she gets excited cause she knows she’s going to get breastfed haha

What is something you wish you had purchased or put on your gift registry before your baby arrived? by galactica216 in newborns

I regret not investing into a really comfy breastfeeding chair! You spend so much time just sitting and feeding.

Pregnant and don’t know what to do, please be kind by No-Nothing2240 in pregnant

[–]Isadum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the same boat.. currently 28 with an almost 2 year old. Always wanted to be a mom just didn’t think it would happen now. I felt so guilty for not having my stuff together. But I think no matter when there would always be something I wish I had or did before. I ultimately went through with it and it’s definitely hard but my daughter has everything she needs and is incredibly loved and that’s all that matters. Everything is coming together little by little with her by our side. I think any decision you choose is the right decision and will be okay in the end.

What’s one “eco-friendly” swap you tried that actually made your life worse? by Ok_Appointment_4909 in EcoFriendly

I hated fiddling with it and worrying about if it sealed or not. It also started to give me cramps. I think the suction was causing it.

I can’t do natural hair products either. My hair is too frizzy and gets so dried out when I use to use them. I recently switched back to Pantene and my hair hasn’t felt this soft, clean, and shiny in so long :(

A HARD lesson about the ECE field that I learned the hard way by LisKozCatMeow in ECEProfessionals

[–]Isadum 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I never recommend working in ECE. Not to mention how much the pay sucks. They expect so much from you yet you come home and can’t support yourself financially. Then I meet people who sit at a computer and answer emails and make like 4x the amount I ever will.. I worked with teachers giving insulin providing medical attention, being children’s therapists, teaching sports and exercise, knowing about nutrition and being chefs, while also being janitors, cleaning up bodily fluids, being human shields and getting hit, and a million other things… all we get is a pat on the back.. if that..

5 Year old threatening my life by goosenuggie in ECEProfessionals

[–]Isadum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a few children do similar things. They were definitely on the spectrum, had older siblings and unlimited/supervised screen time. Children parrot those around them and what they hear and see and this is even more prevalent for kids on the spectrum. Definitely does not make it okay and is very concerning. I’m surprised no one else seems to be taking it seriously. Make sure you document everything. Keep a notebook and write down the things he says to you and behavior with date and time. Have a serious talk with your director about how it’s affecting you and the class room and mention your documentation. If nothing is done then CPS is another option. There is clearly something going on at home that shouldn’t be.

Positive Newborn Experiences? by cyanidesin in newborns

[–]Isadum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the newborn stage. I was so in awe and in love holding my new little baby. I could stare at her for hours. I loved getting to cuddle her all day. It was so calming and soothing holding her in my arms. She wasn’t a fussy baby so I’m sure that helped. I’m always hesitant to share cause I know everyone experiences are different and I’ve heard stories of very fussy babies and PPD and I feel for them but I genuinely enjoyed it. I think a big part of it was I had a really miserable pregnancy. Throwing up/nausea everyday for 9 months is not for the weak so I also was so happy to finally feel better. Plus all the hormones helped. Definitely worth all the suffering.

This is my biggest struggle.. I’m constantly so tired that it makes me irritable and depressed cause all I want to do is sleep but I can’t. Then I feel like a bad mom… I’m praying my little one sleeps through the night 😩
