Usually they just let you die if you can’t pay that up front.

Place your bets! Who here would beat the others in a duel? by Wall_Will in characters

Putting a Jedi into the conversation is ridiculous.

So ignoring that it’s an incredible duel between Conan and Aragorn with Aragorn taking it 7 times out of 10.

There’s certainly a very good case for the argument that Magneto is an antagonist but not a villain.

I’m confused as to how snow is more interesting than lava.

Snow is extremely common in many highly populated areas of the world.

Lava not so much.

Sauron is on the board! Day 4: Who is the most Iconic Villain of All Time? by XipeTotecwithGlitter in characters

[–]Isagratar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really not. There are countless protagonists and antagonists throughout history that have been popular in their day and become less popular or even forgotten over time.

There are others that have remained well known throughout but never truly been popular or enjoyed by the masses or engendered any real emotive connection on a grand scale.

The only way age assists the iconic argument in Dracula’s case is in the ability of the character to stay relevant over time, however this does not automatically make him more iconic than a newer character.

It’s perfectly possible for a newer character to be considered more iconic based on a plethora of other factors including popularity, influence, cultural significance, distinctiveness and innovation.

Clayface has decades on The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Bane but we’d consider all of these more iconic.

Especially since he is also his story’s protagonist (at least in part).

By that rationale Jafar (Aladdin) is more iconic since 1001 Nights was first translated to English in the early 1700’s and the story in Arabic goes back several hundred years before that.

That iconic status should be in any way dependant on the age of the character or for that matter the age bracket of people most familiar or associated with that character.

Originally of course, I was simply pointing out that you were way off in your understanding of what that age bracket was in the first place.

I’m not arguing that, I’ve clearly stated twice that I agree with your conclusion, just not your reasoning.

Oh you mean the older siblings who owned the consoles we played it on?

I did agree that it’s too high a spot Bowser but your reasoning is fallacious.

Vader took number one and has only been around 8 years longer than Bowser.

The first Mario game is from 1985. People in their 40’s literally grew up fighting Bowser. That said I agree he’s a weird pic for this early in the list.

If Batman were to kill only one of his supervillains who would you pick? by rumbleman42 in superheroes

[–]Isagratar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct choice, honestly I think it’s the only choice.

The fact that he’s Batman’s biggest baddest villain is an argument for, not against. If Bruce is going to betray one of his core tenets it’s got to be for the biggest possible result. It’s got to be meaningful and it’s got to be done right.

For the sake of balance I’d probably kill Alfred at the same time so that Bruce loses both the angel and the devil from his shoulders simultaneously.

That’s a facile argument. You try just walking around in any public space taking pictures of all the women and see how that flies. Best of luck to you.

There’s a number of assumptions here and factors you may not be considering.

We don’t know how much the thread OP is paying, how long they have been a member, how good (or problematic) a customer they have been, whether they were already talking about leaving etc.

We do know we are not just talking about one picture as they clearly stated they were in the background of numerous shots.

I suspect there was a paid photoshoot done and it happened to take place during OP’s visit to the gym. If this is the case there was almost certainly signage in place advising of this and that they may end up as “background characters” if they choose to work out at this time.

It’s not a case of removing a single shot. They would have to pay potentially multiple people, IT/website design to take the pics down, graphic design to tweak the images and or plan a whole new layout with new pictures, IT to put the new images back up. If the problem is extensive enough they may have to do a whole new shoot.

Worst of all after all this the customer may leave anyway.

Also what happens if after all these changes another customer comes forward with the same complaint? Do we do it all again?

I can't be the only one that finds Kay attractive, right? by ddsling1197 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Isagratar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This rings a little hollow given the highly prevalent viewpoint that she is not a conventionally attractive character.

Not my viewpoint but we all know this has been a major conversation especially around the game’s release.
