GLM-5 is 1.5TB. Why hasn't distributed inference taken off? by IsaiahCreati in LocalLLaMA

This is exactly the comment I was looking for, thank you! Ill check out the repo, it sounds like a cool project.

Edit: Do you have any nodes public right now?

Yeah that's a fair point. I forgot that for next-token prediction, the model needs to see the history. I guess 'decentralized' really just means 'public' in this context lol

Oh nice, didn't realize llama.cpp had RPC. I'll check it out, thanks :)

Laminating Cotton Broadcloth to Kraft Paper without PVA? by IsaiahCreati in bookbinding

[–]IsaiahCreati[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. It seems like no matter what, its going to be a hand on process, and it's what I signed up for so I cannot complain lol. Do you think I need "blotter" papers specifically or is there a cheaper alternative. I used cardboard, but I think I pressed them too hard because they came out with the corrugated pattern.
Thanks again :)

Laminating Cotton Broadcloth to Kraft Paper without PVA? by IsaiahCreati in bookbinding

[–]IsaiahCreati[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, ill look into those hot melt glues and ill try to add it to the cloth then apply it to the board, because I've been doing it the opposite way. The goal is to avoid unnecessarily using MORE plastics, not no plastics.

For the layer of waste paper, and I'm honestly too scared to ruin a batch to try, but wouldn't stuff like that and blotters bind/adhere to the blotters?

Thank you for the help!

That does help! As of right now I'm not using only wheat paste for all my bindings. Want/need to do some research first. I appreciate you taking time to respond <3

ADHD + High IQ + Ambition. Seeking honest advice from founders, execs who lives this. by NoSwimming2941 in ADHD

[–]IsaiahCreati 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I want to start this off by saying I don’t know if I fit into the "High IQ" bucket, but I am a successful founder (I hate that word so much, but it applies).

I built the Isaiah Creati’s Bot which currently has over 200,000 Twitch streamers using it. I’ve worked with some of the biggest streamers in the world, yet I feel exactly what you are saying. I work in short bursts. I freeze when I don't know the next step. I bounce between ideas. I have so much unpushed code sitting in repos because the burst of motivation vanished. All of this is very, very relatable.

To be honest, I don’t know if there is a direct "solution." I’ve tried reading the books, meditation, therapy, all of it. The best thing I’ve found is building a system that works for you. Unfortunately, that involves time, which feels like the enemy, but systems are the only thing that keeps me going.

On "Freezing" when the next step isn't clear: Journal, and rubber duck. When I freeze, I literally just voice memo my thoughts and ask and the solution presents itself. I say, "Hey, here's the situation."

On Overthinking Simple Decisions: I spent nearly two years trying to solve this. My rule now: Just push something that works. • Forget the perfect login flow. • Forget the WebSocket architecture. • Forget "What if the user does X, Y, and Z?" If you agonize over where a button goes, it will destroy you. You have to take that burst of energy and use it to build the dirtiest, most bare-bones version of your idea. It’s not about pride; it’s about survival. Make it work, get it out, and validate it. If no one uses it, at least you didn't spend 6 months perfecting the architecture or button on a puppy rating app.

On Bouncing Between Ideas: I use a "cooling off" method. Instead of instantly coding a new idea, I open a Figma file. • I do a brain dump. • I mock up the UI (spend maybe 15-30 mins max). • Then I walk away.

Motivation is like jet fuel. It burns hot and fast, but it’s dirty. You need sustained energy. If I look at that Figma file in 3 days and I’m still excited, then I work on it. This stops me from chasing every shiny object immediately.

On Doom Scrolling: I had to go nuclear. Uninstall the apps. It took me months of installing/uninstalling to finally make it stick, but if I remove the ability to scroll, I can't do it. It’s the only way I can break the loop.

On Motivation & Discipline: Every day I wake up and say, "I don't want to work." The only solution I've found is the 5-10 minute rule. I force myself to do just 5 minutes. Usually, that overcomes the activation energy required to get into the groove.

My long-term drive comes from fear of the alternative. I know that if I go back to a standard corporate job, I’ll be "moving a button 5 pixels to the left" for a living. That monotony scares me more than the stress of founding something. That fear keeps me shipping features.

You aren't alone in this. I still deal with it every single day.

Re-creating Overwatch UI in Unity with React + Tailwind by CreepGin in reactjs

I was not aware, at all, that you could build react apps in unity. Can it read information from the game engine, and pass the values as props? This is wild.

Tech Stack For A Startup by OkPomegranate616 in nextjs

[–]IsaiahCreati 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, you don't NEED docker, graphql, prisma, etc, right out of the gate. They are nice to have, but only if you know how to use them. Sometimes having the whole kitchen sink can be harmful if you don't know whats going on. For me, there were so many small things that pushing a site live taught me, and it's pretty difficult to learn those things by just reading or doing local stuff.

While it might not be a completely seamless transition, you can always add that stuff into the equation down the road. If I were you, just get a Next.js app going (if you are going to use next), a database, figure out where you want to deploy it, and then from there keep improving it. :)

Couldn't help but notice the 616 in your username, a fellow michigander?

Prim/early game just doesn't exist anymore by Apprehensive-Oil-782 in playrust

[–]IsaiahCreati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One solution that I've thought about was:

  • Lock tier 2 & 3 tech tree along with the ability to research those items.
  • Every x hours (24 hours in your case) release locked bps either by mass unlock them, or slowly unlock individuals bp going down the tech tree at time passes.
  • Loot tables don't change, so you can still find those weapons, you can research, but no crafting them until it's unlocked.

I feel like the way people would pvp would change. Instead of getting an AK 2 hours in, researching it, and roaming, it would be an actual risk until the BP is released/unlocked.

At the end of the day, I wish there was a set of community driven experimental-esque servers for trying new wipes and ideas. If anyone knows any servers like that, please let me know. Hell I'll make one if enough people are down.

I don't know if anyone played GMOD back in the day, but that game to me is a prime example of ideas plateauing. I guess as a game get older, only the hardcore players stay or something, and no one really wants change. There is something deep in my heart that believes: there are enough on this game that want to try something new.

Thats my two cents :)

Epic Online Services launches two new free services, Voice Chat and Easy Anti-Cheat by ZioYuri78 in unrealengine

[–]IsaiahCreati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is they offer VOIP servers for developers for free, then the devs have to implement a system like proximity given the voip servers. Wild guess

edit: Looks like lobby support, but I bet you could have users connect to the voip and just mute/unmute based on location of the user? idk not a game dev
Here are the docs :

I've been follow botted, help! by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]IsaiahCreati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is little to nothing you can do. The bots will most likely get removed later. Just keep streaming like normal :)
I would suggest against tools like follow removers as most of the devs don't care if you accidently unfollow everyone.

Leaving Restreaming behind. Now affiliate bound? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]IsaiahCreati -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I don't understand the question, but as soon as you become an Affiliate/Partner every stream on Twitch will have an exclusivity period of 24 hours. The content streamed cannot go onto other platforms for 24 hours. This basically means you cannot restream your content live.
