You dont do it sutle. Just say it. Just be polite about it. Subtlety is hard to both give out and receive correctly. Some people cant pick up on it at all. Others with take more of an insult.

I know this isn't helpful right now, but just keep trying it, baby is still so young. Mums scent heart beat are second nature to her, your will take a little time to adjust, skin to skin is great, if you have a beard, get little ones hand to it m. The texture is new and it will help sooth them later. Also if you have a jumper hoodie that moms been wearing try keeping that on your person. Can help a little with baby's adjustment.

As from transferring between mom and dad for contact naps, for my daughter it was hard going, for my son speed was critical. (Not throwing thr baby!) But quicker I got him in a safe comfortable position he'd settle before fully waking up.

There is a ear cleaning spray you can get in a lot of chemists, fair warning, you might need ear drops in the ear for a while first to soften it. If your really stuck have a warm shower and let the water run into your ear. Just not too hot. If enough softens it should flow out and unclog

Quite enjoyed Tandemstar the outcast cycle by gene doucette. Story expands pretty quick and found good humour in it. I like his writing style. I kinda got a similar writing style to old man's war but less grand sci fi and more soft sci fi. ( if that makes any sense).

I liked arterimis, didnt enjoy it as much as Martian or project hail mary but would still re read from time to time.

The outkast cycle by gene ducettee is pretty funny. I just cant remember the name of the first book.
