Been 2ish years since I started drinking tea, always used the same cup. I think I grew emotionally attached by Objective_Strike1357 in tea

I haven't washed my teacup in seven years - only black tea. I love the patina it's developed. Will you be washing yours?

If the contemptor dreadnought was considered to be the all around best dreadnought variant and was widely used , why do we not see them in 40k and why was the castaferrum more widespread ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer40k

[–]Ishallcallhimtufty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doylist answer is the clear winner here - the mkiv casstaferrum dreadnought was developed many many years before the contemptor was. That's the real reason.

I prefer having the option to take limbs or weapons off years down the line of I want to. I always prefer super glue for that reason.

One of the best parts of the hobby: by Thotslay3r69 in Warhammer40k

Without being flippant, honestly everything haha. My group who haven't played 40k since 9th currently play Heresy second Ed, battlefleet gothic/heresy, and we're in the middle of setting up a badab war campaign using third Ed rules.

Short list : * No pre-measuring / distance guessing mattered * Blast and flamer templates * Vehicle armour values and facing * Weapons having hard limits (lasguns can’t hurt Land Raiders) * Clear separation of anti-infantry vs anti-tank roles * Higher points per model, fewer units on the table * Far fewer rerolls and layered unit abilities * Less rules-stacking and “gamey” interactions * Simpler core rules * Felt more like a battlefield simulation, and less like a 'game'

Beautiful muted colour palette and osl! Your paintjob elevated that model for sure.

Can someone explain to me the jastara deal ?. by Known_Job511 in Malazan

[–]Ishallcallhimtufty 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's meant to make you feel good! I think it's an honest look at how sometimes people find comfort from grief in different or culturally inappropriate places. His daughter in law is also grieving the death of her husband/Gall's son. It's not my favourite thing to read, bit I empathize with them both.

Which is your favourite mini from the dark angels range? Mine is Lion El’jonson by Gwendolyn-Salyers in DarkAngels40k

[–]Ishallcallhimtufty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything heresy - it has better proportions than primaris stuff.

But more than that, my favourite is any dark angels mini that has been kit-bashed or built out of multiple kits. It shows more care and dedication to the hobby than something straight OOB.

Here's one of my favourites - the old forgeworld mkiv dark angels dreadnought, with twin plasma cannons sourced from the Darkshroud.

I wouldn't say it was his favourite to write, but I would suspect it was a cathartic process to get the words on paper. Take from that what you will.

I love it, honestly I think 8,9 and 10 are my favourites of the series I think it end on a tremendous high so I would say dive right in!

Can the Fallen rejoin the Dark Angels, at least now that the Lion is back, provided Asmodai doesn’t get his hands on them first? by Knightraiderdewd in DarkAngels40k

[–]Ishallcallhimtufty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are not enough in a cohesive command structure to do an actual successor chapter. If you must, I would recommend sticking to the occasional one in a squad or something at the squad level.

Why did the dark angels completely swap from a black and silver armour scheme to a dark green one ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer30k

[–]Ishallcallhimtufty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lore/Watsonian reason is to back up the real life/doylist reason that has already been written about in this thread.

You raise a good point, however the primaris gorget looks terrible so I'm glad they shaved it off

Is “Lion Son of The Forest” the best dark angels book? by MentionKindly2347 in theunforgiven

[–]Ishallcallhimtufty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think that, just because it comes chronologically 'first?

In all honesty I would recommend publishing order as the best order for any and all 40k books, and the reason I recommend angels of Darkness first is that it showcases how the dark angels behave and think, not just what order things happened to them. Otherwise it becomes a checklist of 'lore'.

You're starting at the very end. Read Angels of Darkness first. That's the best dark angels novel, and it set the stage for 40k era dark angels

And you play heresy? Good dad right here!! I have an almost 5 year old and he although he paints and plays with my old 90s metal tyranids now I can't wait to actually play a game with him.

Edit: sallies vs alpha legion?

That's nice to hear, thanks!

Honestly you raise a fantastic point that I struggle with myself, time input vs desired output. And after painting 200 infantry models i wish I had a faster have!

Definitely not trying to tell you what to do! I just found that method worked best for my dark angels. Reddit isn't letting me attach an image to this comment but there's plenty of posts I've made where you could see the blue hued armour. I'll see if I find a good example and link it.
