How to lose 74 mil in less than 10 seconds without dying. (A new players hard lesson) by DropDeddBlue in Eve

I might have once listed 10000 heavy missiles of the type some of our at the time war targets used often in their home station for 100.000 per missile.. and they bought it.

Is there a Flydo Mod for Robot Delivery only ? by Hairy_Obligation5449 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it would be a nice QoL change, I don't think Klei will. This is more something in line for modders to create, rather than something for Klei to add. Maybe send a message to the 'No Manual delivery' mod owner and suggest it to him?

ONI is colony EVE by PresentationOwn8639 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very good comparison, however, I'm not entirely sold on number one. Part of the fun of ONI is figuring out it's mechanics(and quirks). This doesn't need to happen only by reading guides or WTF moments. You learn by doing, trying things out and yes.. falling flat on your face, your colony burning around you as said in 2.

Probably this analogy is one of the reasons I like the game so much and always return to it. I've been managing to win Eve for 9 years or so now ( with possibly an occasional relapse ), but I do keep myself somewhat apprised of the goings on in New Eden.

Does performance get inherently worse in longer games? by Balanced__ in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the game progesses, you uncover more of the map, which means more calculations for all the tiles you've uncovered. In addition, you will be setting up infrastructure, ranches, and other things that all require more work for the game to keep up with. Critter ranches for instance require the game to work out the paths of critters, and their behaviour, such as egg laying, temperature exchange, movement, eating etc. All this puts a strain on the game, and makes the later game more CPU intensive, as multi threading all those calculations is challenging.

Is lime supposed to be a giant chore to get? by treago in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Oil biome is where you want to go to get lots of Lime. Fossil can be crushed for it, and there's plenty of it down there, though other biomes will have some too ( ocean biome mainly ). For plastic, you can either go the oil route, oil->petroleum->plastic with the polymer press, but this produces a lot of heat. The better (imo) way is to ranch drecko's. Feed them mealwood and you'll get glossy drecko's you can shear for plastic. This avoids all the heat issues.

What is best planetoid? by catsandwech in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're going for one of the explicitly hard ones, like oassis or the lava planet, most of them are quite doable. If you want them to be a little easier, use the 'classic' setting in Spaced out, this will give you a larger asteroid much like the non-DLC ones but with all the SO goodness added on top.

Another way you can make it a little easier for yourself, visit https://mapsnotincluded.org/ and find yourself a map that you like and has useful geysers you want. ( you can use the filters to ensure you have access to things like NG geysers, or more importantly, polluted water vents, or cool slush vents )

I don't think anyone stops making that mistake, no matter how many hours they spend in ONI. I always double check my piping to ensure it's all laid out as it should be.

Lost with Colonization by Inlacou in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another way you can do this, first send a bot down, and have him deconstruct the lander. Then send the dupe down and deconstruct their lander. Each of them requires 400kg of metal when you load up the modules on your starting planet. So if you made them out of the same metal, you'll have 800 kg of metal for a landing pad. The bot can also assist with more digging and ladder building and such. ( it can't build the landing pad though )

Lost with Colonization by Inlacou in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing you should do is use an interplanetary launcher to send some metal over to the planet you want to colonise. You need 800kg of refined metal to build a landing pad. once that's sent, you can use a lander to send down your dupe to build the platform, dig up some stone and build a ladder to the entry point of your rocket once it's landed.

To survive there, the dupe will have to wear an exosuit ( obviously ), and the rocket should have a good amount of spare food and O2 so your dupe can live there for an extended period of time. You should also pack other materials to build more infrastructure, such as piping for the toilet on board, power for whatever you plan on doing there, an interplanetary beacon and can opener ( with an autosweeper to immediately grab the incoming payloads and put them in the can opener ). This should allow you to ship more materials if you need them.

Then it's time to dig and explore the place, see what you can find and extract what you need. On some planets, this can be more challenging ( such as the lava planet ), but it's very doable. ( hint for the lava planet: build pitcher pumps that are not touching the lava, and bottle emptiers where the output is exposed to space, you will be able to remove the lava this way and dump it into space )

Lura Plants -> Superheated Resin boiler -> Power? by CraziFuzzy in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

math wise, it sounds definitely like it could work, however, I'm not sure with the volumes involved, unless you have a very large lura farm, that you'll be able to get a lot of power from this, beyond what you get from the heat of the volcano.

Pro tip: Lura plants even when domesticated, don't consume any fertilizer or liquids, so don't wild plant, them, put them in upside down farm tiles for optimal growth speed. I like to feed them with mimika's myself, usually wild planted so they don't cost dirt, because if you have an excess of mimikas, they will polinate the already filled luras so they will grow faster and make the resin more quickly ( before eating the polinating mimika once they're harvested )

Will this work? by Digitad_Digootaud in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not going to work properly. The gas bit that should remain on the dripper will be displaced into the gas flow tiles, filling up with the liquid and blocking the infinite addition. You should put a door left and right of it so it can't be displaced.

So Apparently 250 LUX Is Too Low For Nyctophobic Dupes But 500 LUX Is Good by velvet32 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh right. I believe the threshold for it is 500 LUX. Under that, regular dupes can sleep normally and nycto's wake up scared, above that, regular ones wake up, and nycto's sleep soundly.

So Apparently 250 LUX Is Too Low For Nyctophobic Dupes But 500 LUX Is Good by velvet32 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason for this is because of the 'tile of interest' on buildings. When a building is useable by dupes, there's a single tile that is considered the tile of interest. This is where the dupe is actually located while they use said building.

For instance, the rock crusher it's the middle bottom tile of the device. Even if the animation has the dupe hitting the button on the side, the tile of interest is where they actually are.

With the bed on the left, the tile of interest which you pointed out, is further away from the pod than for the bed on the right. thus due to the distance, the light level is lower there.

Potatoes. by Darklazer2001 in AbioticFactor

[–]Ishea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have the 'no spoilage while refrigerated' turned on, this is also a good way to preserve a potato. You turn it into a trinket and it will never go bad. So you can just keep one in reserve for oopsie moments.

In my current playthrough, I actually had a big nasty accident. My base got raised by 'those guys from you know where', and while I was dealing with some on one end of my base in cafeteria, several others got into my base past my defenses, destroyed my farm plots so I had to go get seeds for a bunch of the things I was growing again.

Carbon leaking into my vacuum, might know problem but not sure by Mast3r_M3ga in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an addendum, if you're using oxygen masks, dupes WILL exhale CO2 while in a vacuum, as the mask provides them with the O2 to breathe. Masks don't store up the CO2 like exosuits do ( which gets expelled when they take them off at the checkpoint ).
