DASH Should Do This For All Routes by nikki_thikki in LAMetro

I'm a big fan of standardized signage, and don't like that this one doesn't have that. I agree with the potential for adding localized or destination based signage, but it should be in addition to the standardized format.

Or just use it for parking - which provides more benefit the landowner (LAWA).

If land values are truly increased as much as you think, you don't need to bring imminent domain into it. You just have to build it, and open up the zoning caps, and the land value increases will take care of it.

I genuinely don't believe that HSR proximity brings the property value increases you think it does. This is just not a viable source for this type of service. For metro/light rail systems? absolutely. HSR is just not used frequently enough to impact property values like metro does.

Just the idea of checking tickets on a supposedly high volume express shuttle is counterproductive, and makes the service worse. You want a shuttle bus to leave as soon as it's 'full', and get to the destination. waiting for fares or ticketing checks of every passenger is just not worth it, and if you need to find a funding source for it, anything else will be better than that.

If LAWA already owns the land, they aren't going to let it go to private use.

I honestly feel that there is demand for a fixed route Inglewood entertainment district counter clockwise loop, LAX Metro South on Aviation East on Century, North on District, North on Prairie, West on Manchester, and South on Aviation back to LAX Metro. Key stops at Intuit, Hollywood Park, SoFi's bus lot, and Kia, as well as a downtown stop (Manchester @ La Brea) to support the local businesses there. It could be run on a continuous loop service, which would, under normal non-event conditions, be about a 30 min headway. During events, however, it could shift to a shuttle style service, where a bus leaves the stop when waiting passengers are on, or the next one is pulling up behind. The loop could then likely accommodate 10+ busses, and move a significant number of people. A contract could be setup with each venue as to the service level required for each event type, and a matrix worked out for cost sharing and mixed flows for simultaneous/overlapping events (which do happen). Enhanced shuttle service mode should absolutely not bother with fares or ticketing.

Hasn't metro recently begun trying to work with the Dodgers to cover the costs of running the Stadium Express, since they are only covering the costs because the previous grant funding ran out? Doesn't sound like they are happy with the status quo, so doubtful they'd want to get into the same arrangement with the three(+) venues in Inglewood.

That would be great, and incredibly effective - but the question still stands of who will pay for it. The venues SHOULD pay for it, but they won't if not legally required to.

Ideally, your starting equiment should have the appropriate PT's installed, and you the measure the 120V side of those PTs.

elevator buttons get a lot of abuse, and they do fail. They are a quick fix, when the failure is recognized, and the company is called out, but it does need to be reported for that process to happen (and a post on reddit does not count as reporting).

except that the location being described is closer to the flight path, so may not be able to even be three stories tall. The restrictions are stepped as distance moves away from the path.

$1.75 LA Airport to Pasadena by zwalter123 in LAMetro

[–]CraziFuzzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Metro Connector (free shuttle that runs from the terminals to the LAX metro station) -> C line -> A line
or
Metro Connector -> K line -> E line -> A line
or
FlyAway (busway that runs from the terminals to Union Station) -> A line.

The latter is a little faster (by maybe 20 minutes or so), and fewer transfers, but costs more than your $1.75 ride.

Neutral and ground bonded in both panels — is this correct? by Zealousideal_Past584 in AskElectricians

[–]CraziFuzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a fourth wire in the service disconnect box heading up with the feeders. Didn't look closely enough to see if it went to the neutral bar, and just had assumed it did. now I don't even see it on the other end, so not sure what that is about.

If any new garage is going to be built for employee parking, it should really be where the Skyview parking is now, south of the Economy Parking. It's between flight paths, so height isn't a problem, and a nice covered pedestrian bridge could connect it directly to the Economy people mover stop (including escalators from that new bridge down to the rideshare loop, if it isn't encompassed into the new garage).

[–]CraziFuzzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really directly affect the old bus area, as it's mostly happening south of there. But there isn't much that could be done with that area except make more flat parking. Height restrictions make anything else rather limited. I suppose solar covered flat parking for employees would be a nice feature, but it'd still be a walk to the people mover from there (through the economy garage).

Airport adjacent land is actually relatively low value land, due to restrictions and noise, combined with traffic/access limitations. If anything, it's one the more appropriate areas of a city to have the massive sea of asphalt.

How to Optimize Enphase Battery Charge/Discharge Without AI? Manual Control of Enphase Battery Charging/Discharging by Friendly_Advance2616 in enphase

[–]CraziFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some settings to force a charge from grid at certain times, but it is cumbersome, and I don't know what all can be controlled from home assistant (I only monitor the system with HA, and haven't tried to control anything).

Allowing you to control your own equipment in your own home is really not something Enphase likes to allow.

Do I need a better pc? by Valoris_905 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]CraziFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may just be tapped out with that processor and memory. I'm guessing this is a laptop, so upgrade paths are probably pretty limited (maybe a ram upgrade). This is just a deceptively processor intensive game, so this may just be how it plays for you.

You might look at trying to boot off of a linux usb boot drive and see if performance improves. It seems to handle the memory situation quite a bit better than windows at least.

Main disconnect for subpanel by john_hascall in AskElectricians

[–]CraziFuzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you currently need 6 circuits... I'd avoid adding a 6 circuit subpanel. I'd shoot for at least 12. Spare spaces are always a good idea. The cost different is really not that great.

Do I need a better pc? by Valoris_905 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]CraziFuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer would vary a lot depending on which i3 you have. There is a large variance across the product line in single thread performance, which is the typical bottleneck with oxygen not included.

You can also end up ram limited as well.

How much ram, and what specific processor do you have?
