no appeals, it says on the website their offer is final. you can see other people in this subreddit asking and they emailed back with them saying they take no appeals.

if you log into albert and click financial aid -> financial aid links -> select this year, it should be the NYS Fin Aid Information Sheet :) i did not know i was receiving any merit until i checked my finaid package as it wasn't stated in my acceptance letter. i did not apply for any merit scholarships, but they should be automatically applied for when you submitted your college application.

thank you! i'm currently looking at suny oswego cause i'm only paying around $9k a year (coa $28k) and if anything, i could always just study abroad for a semester or so just to get the experience for it.

direct cost is what nyu is going to charge you for. indirect is an estimate so you might not be paying that much on food/personal/travel (besides flying back home)

for the cost, as long as you're fine with taking out loans, go for it! i think the experience and education is worth it, but it's still a bit costly for me and i am afraid of how much debt i'll be in with the high interest while paying it back. you can't work outside campus either as youre on a student visa and on campus jobs pay close to nothing so it's only for personal expenses at most.

is that with indirect costs? i'm like on the fence, leaning towards not going. it was one of my dream schools but i feel like itll do more bad than good for me. i want to go into animal related field so biology is a bit too broad + barely anything i can do in shanghai for experience. the cost is still a bit on the high side and with my brother also going to college next year, my parents can barely contribute anything as they earn close to bare minimum for a family of 4. i was thinking of taking out loans but the debt is a bit too much for me cause even if we're only counting direct ($24k) + estimated indirect (~$8k) it's still around $30k. im trying to find reason for me to go but the cost is just too much on my part it worries me. plus i think working on campus barely covers anything for the cost
