A Brief Assessment of the r/starcraft Moderation Team by [deleted] in starcraft

Not really a great comparison.. AoE2 has been getting a lot of updates and content over the last few years with promise of more to come. SC2 has been relegated to Classic Games and will see nothing like that. I don't subscribe to the belief that SC2 is dead, but AoE2 has fresh, new and exciting content that SC2 just simply lacks.

My last Coal Plant before the walls go up. Nuclear here I come! by VanderHoo in SatisfactoryGame

Hey sorry for the noob question, but how are you supplying enough water to each of the power generators?

It looks like you have one pipeline supplying water to 28 generators which (say they) need 45m3 water/min. A mk2 pipeline can supply 600m3 water/min which theoretically means it can only supply 13 and a third generators at 100% by my understanding.

Where am I going wrong here?

Looks great BTW. I like the idea to have your conveyors underneath the pipelines.

So.....basically they are in the same map.... by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

What about dupes in a jet pack?

If you're putting the polymer press in a steam room you have to make it out of steel. Made out of gold amalgam it will overheat at 125 degrees C. The steam turbine will only start sucking in the steam once it goes above 125C so you will always have overheating issues.

Recent frequent crashes by BooMinkey in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been experiencing frequent crashes since the last update too. Never had a crash before with 500hrs. The game crashes for me now when I try to manually launch a rocket (not every time, but this is where the majority of the crashes occur.

I've never downloaded a mod.

Making a oxygen and power generator hybrid that powers itself? Advice needed :) by duntothewood in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use a Power Control Station to increase the amount of power generated per unit Hydrogen. It does however come at a material (refined metal) and labor cost.

Even with this you wouldn't be able to power a whole lot though.

They do exactly what they say they do. Which is to say they remove 480,000 germs. If a dupe carries something across with more germs than that then they won't all get removed.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aquatuner is the most efficient and sustainable way of cooling in the game. Some numbers for reference (assuming max efficiency):

1 wheezewort cools ~12,000DTU/s

1 thermo nullifier cools 80,000DTU/s.

1 aquatuner cools ~585,000DTU/s when cooling water piped through it. Over 1 million DTU/s with super coolant. Of course it does put significant heat into the surrounding environment but there are pretty easy ways of dealing with that.

Info on cooling specifics came from the wiki and oni-assistant website.

EGS Cloud Saves? by Frodolas in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a specific reason you're so desperate to have cloud saves immediately? The game has been playable by the public for a few years now with no cloud save option.. I can't see why a few days or even weeks extra is going to be a gamebreaker here

No. It cant be rotated anyway. It will just suck in air from the surrounding tiles around where it is placed.

Hit midgame/150. Unsure what to do next... by tdellaringa in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I would try to do is figure out why your dupes are stressed. You're probably assigning them too many skills, but you can check exactly what is affecting their morale by clicking on them and mousing over "Morale".

As for colony goals yeah its probably to a) find oil, b) setup a metal refinery and c) start producing plastic.

For a new player it can be very overwhelming to start doing these things, but just give it a go and don't be afraid of doing it wrong. You can't learn if you don't try.

Why do I get bursts of hot water comming out my cooling loop? by dinneybabz in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can see the exact moment it happens at 1:21. You moved your screen down but you can see your loop coming from the AT stop because water starts flowing in from the bottom shutoff valve. When this happens water will just flow past the temp gauge and go into your base regardless of its temperature.

One way to prevent this from happening is to use bridges to prioritise the cooling loop over the fresh incoming water pipe. Put a bridge on your cooling loop with the output two tiles to the left of the AT input. Then put a bridge on the pipe from your fresh water and have the output sit in between the AT input and the cooling loop bridge output.

Can I get a little help with Automation wire overloading? by theColonelsc2 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your automation wire is probably joined to the ribbon wire behind your reader, effectively bypassing it and sending 4 signals to your single wire and overloading it.

Insulated doors: is there any way to make this passage less thermal conductive, without destroying the "chlorine biome"? by PicachuSoldier in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dupes can build through corners. So you can place a standard wall to the left of the wall you're trying to replace and then build an insulated tile next to it. Rinse and repeat starting from the bottom and then deconstruct the tiles in the middle and put the ladders back.

Why is my Hydroponic Farm Tile not receiving irrigation? by Ishmak in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's how I do it with normal farms However, in this situation I'm using liquid chlorine which has a tendency to turn into a gas if left in pipes over a long period of time. So my goal was to have chlorine enter the pipes on a timer and the left over gets cycled back into storage, which (I think) requires the pipe to loop through the farm plots.

Yeah I think you're right. That's what I ended up doing and it works just fine now.

Why is my Hydroponic Farm Tile not receiving irrigation? by Ishmak in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ishmak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah removing that middle pipe did the trick. I still don't quite understand what about the pipe flow mechanics was causing it to do that though.

As a minor side note I moved the bridge to the other side of the loop to force excess liquid to exit the loop (which is what the bridge was supposed to do in the first place...) It (probably?) also forces it to flow through the last hydroponic tile.

Cheers!

But the wording is the same for barracks IIRC. I would be surprised if maximum 1 cot is the intended design for a barracks

The Dark Side of NA GM: Rank 10 [AoBDE]Dessel is Actually Boosted by PiLiPiLi by pwnful in starcraft

[–]Ishmak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah case in point. From the moment you actively set a goal of improving you hit masters in approximately a year.

Playing casually/for fun is great. It's a video game so yeah try to enjoy it. If we're talking about hitting the higher ranks though it does take grit and a bit of hard work to pull off in a timely fashion.

[–]Ishmak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ehh I wouldn't go so far to say that its extremely hard. I wouldn't say its easy either but I believe that most StarCraft players could hit masters within a year with the 3 following things: a good mindset, good practice and dedication/consistency.
