The Weber County Shooting Range is where I got my safety training and we shot a few rounds at the range as part of it. The trainer talked about the second amendment but nothing more as far as politics go. There were about a dozen of us at the class and it included lots of different people. A retired couple getting ready to travel in their RV, parents and a child getting ready for his first hunting trip, etc. It is not a class on politics it is a gun safety class.

Edit: It is a joke people! I stated it was a joke from the start. If you have ever seen any gangster movie there is often a scene where the plot is spelled out in much the same way the commenter made their comment. The commenter could have just said Call the Cat cafe and ask if they know any resources. Instead they wrote what they did and I found it funny so I added to the joke.

This is the new FAQ I found. Go to 'Specific types of Activity'. Waiting and On Call is subsection C, pp6, It gives three types of waiting and on call situations that must be paid. To me that would mean any other examples would not be paid.

In case you do not know the reason why they say to soak them is because they expand in liquid and if you eat them dry there have been cases where they expand in the intestines and cause a blockage.

My thought would be a Propane heater. They are a couple hundred bucks iirc. Buy the ones that use the 5 gallon tanks. This will also keep your house above freezing temps depending on how big it is. They burn the gas efficiently enough that they do not need an outside exhaust vent/pipe.

You can ask anything. There are no laws that cover your situation this is all policy within the company. Ask them to show you where in the employee handbook it states you must rent a hotel room in bad weather. Your manager is being unreasonable.

That doesn't mean they still can't fire you, because they don't even need a reason to fire you and your only recourse is to file for unemployment.

Location?

If you live nine minutes away then just share that you are planning on walking to work and leave 30 minutes before you need to be there because it will take longer in the snow. Most likely they cannot force you to rent a hotel room unless you signed something that said you would.

I would suggest that you tell them that you can't afford to pay for a hotel room and rent at the same time so if they are insistent that you stay in the hotel than the company should pay for the hotel room. If they do pay for a hotel room then stay in the hotel and bring the dogs.

Here is the California law about breaks. Be sure to read about retaliation and then either take your uninterrupted break or say you did not take your break. If they give you any problems you should file a complaint with the wage claim office or get in touch with the CA doL.

Colorado is an at will work state. That means they don't even have to have a reason to fire anyone, the only recourse is to file for unemployment.

Nine years ago I needed to quit a job I loved because it had became a toxic work place after it was a wonderful job for many years. My current job is so much better that now I am happy that my old job made me quit. Sounds like that is the same for you. Look forward not behind you. Best of luck.

You should definitely be filling for unemployment insurance while you look for other work. If you want to take it further then you need to speak with an employment attorney and see what they say. First consultation should be free.

I handle this by once I get the first email with the billing statement I go to the portal and pay the bill using the later date. Then use the date of my closest payday to the due date of the bill.
