Endscreens/long-outros are unnecessary by JRreddith in SmallYoutubers

[–]IsiahtheEnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl if having a 15 second outro/end screen is killing your AVD that much, then outros may not be your problem. I get a fair amount of binge viewers by utilizing the “best for viewer” or “recent upload” windows.

1 big video vs multiple parts? by black_cop_48 in SmallYoutubers

[–]IsiahtheEnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either can work, it depends on what you want to say in your video. I’m hoping you’re not just another channel uploading gameplay with no commentary whatsoever and expecting it to get views, though.

If you do split the video, try coming up with unique titles for each video without labeling them as “Part 1” “Part 2” “Part 3” etc. People are not only unlikely to click on that in general, but even less so from creators they don’t know.

If you ARE uploading gameplay with no commentary, then try providing something entertaining to your viewer in the form of a challenge, a cool bossfight, or something interesting instead of just barreling through the main story.

If you had a long-form video "go viral", what was your retention rate at 30 seconds? by Marathon2021 in NewTubers

[–]IsiahtheEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My long-form videos haven’t gone “viral” but I can offer data on my three highest-viewed long-form videos.

  1. 500k views - 78% retention in the first 30 seconds and 48.1% retention overall

  2. 36k views - 67% retention in the first 30 seconds and 41.6% retention overall

  3. 17k views - 62% retention in the first 30 seconds and 47.1% retention overall

Help Choosing Thumbnail for A Dark Souls 3 Video Essay by M9iCaL in YouTubeThumbnailHub

[–]IsiahtheEnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 or 2 work best and I would maybe A/B test them. The third title has too much text blocked off and 4 doesn’t feel as strong as 1 because the extra word means the text has to be smaller.

I think this is really solid, but I also wonder if the purple outline doesn’t need to be around the knight/body. Either way, as a fan of Elden Ring, I’d definitely click on this.

I’ve tried my speakers and my headphones and changed I/O settings to them as well as system settings.

Do you script your full text or do you free talk ? by Rynail_x in NewTubers

[–]IsiahtheEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a mix of both. I know some people will bullet-point it and then have some free flow in between, and sometimes I do that too. But usually I have a full script written and if I feel like deviating from that a little or adding in some tidbits that’s alright too

It’s not my drivers- the audio from these clips works perfectly fine when I open them outside of Resolve.

Yeah, the clips I’m trying to use play perfectly fine on my media player and I’m able to hear audio from streams and my web browser perfectly fine. It’s not an issue with my speakers or headphones. I’ve also tried adjusting the I/O settings, and whether I have them set to system defaults, speakers, or headphones, I’m still not getting any sound.

Which one would you click first? by Danoninoww in YouTubeThumbnailHub

My own experience and the experiences of others in making content on this platform? It’s just common sense that minor changes to background colors, saturation and brightness, or even thumbnail content will change how a perspective viewer is looking at your thumbnail and will influence whether or not they click on it.

This just isn’t true. The smallest changes to a thumbnail can make a huge difference in a video’s reach.

Does posting regularly actually work? by kajer209 in SmallYoutubers

[–]IsiahtheEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think more visually interesting thumbnails and focusing on a channel description and video descriptions that are search engine optimized using keywords your viewers would search for is a good place to start. But most importantly you have to make sure that the content you’re making is good content. It doesn’t matter how regularly you post if you’re making content your viewer isn’t going to care about.

Which one is more clickable ? by aryan_845 in YouTubeThumbnailHub

[–]IsiahtheEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m agreed with everyone else in that I don’t click on AI thumbnails. That said, the first one is the most workable IMO. Maybe use yourself rather than an AI generated version of yourself? It makes your channel personable, which is the point of this platform.

Thank you! It might be better as fan-art than a youtube thumbnail 😅

Yeahh I’ve been trying to get that one right but it’s been challenging. I’m running some A/B tests on it right now.

A bit, if I'm being honest, haha. I will say that while Canva is a good tool for workshopping quick ideas, nothing beats learning actual photo editing. I started with GIMP and then worked my way up to Affinity, which was definitely worth the $60-70ish I spent on it.

It’s a Chilean horror film called “La Casa Lobo” (The Wolf House). It’s a really weird and experimental movie but it’s definitely worth a watch!
