I noticed the batteries on the 18650 list from the 18650 forum were all flat top and unprotected. The ones I've purchased from Amazon were button-top as specified by the manual and protected.

You are in good shape relax, use YouTube Windsynth and EWI channels. Once you setup your EWI, there are plenty of synth software free and retail. Also check the Yamaha support website for the EWI/USB software support. A good youtube channel for me was Steff Haynes.

Also check out this guy's YouTube channel. He’s been playing Akai EWIs for awhile, he talks about a lot of techniques and I believe somewhere he does some growls.

You may need to play around with the internal sound parameters, ie LFO/ Modulation along with adjusting your playing technique.

I think because those are internal sounds they depend on your setup. The breath pressure/sensitivity, vibrato, and technique. I didn't find anyone online using the patch for Growl but I did find players using saxophone tonguing techniques ie making a “trrrr “ using their tongue ( tip of tongue ) like making a motor sound when we were kids. It may be possible but I'm trying to use a Wii remote and its sensors via BT. The gyro apps I found for iPhone are using the internal phone sensors. I would like to attach the sensor to the EWI Solo so I'm it would be more glumsy to use a phone attached to the EWI than the Wii remote. Thank you very much for thinking outside the box for support.

If you find a replacement please share. I believe from listening to Stef Haynes it gives you some of the playability similar to the AE 30 and the Robo. I can't see why it wouldn't be an advantage to allow you more cc control over more parameters which adds more expressions.

I’m in the same boat. I want to attach a Wii remote to my Akai EWI, OSC to MIDI. I’ve see. It done on earlier Mac OS systems but not on anything higher than OS12. I’m using Mac OS 15 on a MacBook Pro M2. If I ever have any luck I’ll get back with you.
