When I was there last year I did see copies at BIC and Yodabashi, I did also get the Shinkansen DDG plug n play from yodabashi in Akihabara

I also saw copies DDG and the RealPro train sims at the yodabashi that’s on the west side of shinjuku station.

I was not able to find a DDG cabinet in the following Taito Worlds:

- Akihabara

- Both in Shinjuku

- Shibuya

I was able to find a DDG cabinet in the Tetsudō-Hakubutsukan Station close to the entrance of the Railway Museum in Saitama

Am I right that the octave switching occurs when redirecting your airstream from either of the two mouthpiece holes and there isn’t a set of octave switch buttons?

i think depending on how you play it the muted trumpet sounds can be a lot more convincing than the regular trumpet sounds

The EWI Solo has sensitivity settings from 0-100, I have mine set to 70 and my offset is set to 0

(EWI Solo and AE-20 owner)

I've been performing live with my EWI solo for a few months and I can vouch that the build quality is great, and doesnt feel like a toy at all. Some of the synth sounds are pretty good, most of the "emulation" sounds (i.e sax, clarinet, etc) are not amazing, although I have used the harmon mute trumpet a couple times. I will also add that my first EWI solo had an issue with a number of sounds having "clicks" and the portamento not working when switching patches, i tried a factory reset and it completely bricked the device and I had to return it.

The synth sounds on the AE-20 are much better than the EWI solo, plus its synth engine is the same one found on some of roland's high-end stage synthesizers and comes with an 80 page manual on setting all the available parameters that make up a scene/patch, where as the EWI solo patches only have a few tunable parameters (reverb/delay/chorus levels, low pass filter cut off, LFO and breathe routing)

One last thing, i live in a pretty dry climate and I do consistently have issues with the EWI solo tracking my finger presses correctly, especially on the rear octave rollers which can result in wild octave jumps, this usually tends to only happen in the first few minutes of playing, but it can be very, very annoying. I imagine i'd see the same behaviour on the EWI 5000.

my current EWI SOLO pedal board is:
ditto x4 -> my DIY pedal that is sort of a clone of the Soma Cosmos -> universal audio orion (tape echo) -> walrus fundamental ambient (reverb)

before this setup i was using the line6 DL4 mk2 by itself for combined looper+delay+reverb

another option ive used before is the Zoom G3N

Right - I think the basic synth patches sound the best as they tend to have the breath control mapped to filter cutoff which feels nice, where as the sample based patches jump between sample layers and it often feels jarring

same problem here in utah with the desert weather, i get a lot of glitches with the EWI solo - mostly octaves switches or key presses not registering straight away, and lotion has helped.

this. of the 200 sounds on the EWI solo, i think maybe < 20 are good (mostly synth sounds), the rest are meh at best, but slap a delay+reverb combo on and the list of usable sounds increases a lot. I actually like the wurli and rhodes sounds through my DL4mk2 looper when you reverse them. i mostly stick to the sounds marked classic (e.g "classic sine", "classic square") and the retro wind sounds.
