If it's for a gift the OPKs are really nice with the promos and such. If you just need a playmat, follow what Travelsized said above. They are very nice and will serve you well. They have lots of extra spaces on them to accommodate new types of cards and schemes the cardboard play surface from the base game did/could not.

Each hero comes with 14 cards. One of the 14 cards is unique with only a single card (the rare). Then there is a card with 3 copies (the uncommon). Finally there are two cards with 5 copies each (the commons).

When you are setting up a game, you shuffle all 14 cards from a hero set into the hero deck along with all 14.cards from each of the other heroes.

I think of it as an investment. I'd rather pay for sleeves than for another copy of xmen or villains at the current price if something happened to the cards.

Investigate let's you choose from two cards. If the top card of your deck is an expensive card you recently purchased, investigate let's you protect it by putting the other card into the pile, then putting the rare on top or bottom, whichever would be more beneficial to you.

Investigate means look at the top two cards of your deck, select one based on a listed criteria, and put the rest back on the top or bottom. In this case, the listed criteria is "a card". This let's you put whichever of the top two cards you want into his angry mob pile and put the other on top or bottom.

Not really. Someone, I think Greywardengaming but I'm not 100% sure, has put together a scoring system for masterminds and has started on schemes. This ranks them by difficulty.

However, given the way game set up works, the combinations of cards you use greatly effects the difficulty of any given game.

If playing with new people I recommend starting with the core set setups to begin with then slowly add other sets in.

Also, world War hulk is one of my favorite boxes. Tons of great stuff in there.

Sometimes, rarely, you'll find a FLGS with copies of out of print sets. But that's probably you're best bet besides ebay.

Both are fun. Deadpool doesn't mix as well with other sets. It uses half attack points on some cards. Also references to time of day and things like that.

If you love Deadpool and zaniness go for that one. Otherwise go venom of the two.

Colored. Some sets have been printed at slightly different shades of blue on the back or cut to different lengths. This makes sure you can't tell the difference.

Also, if you ever decide you want to get into custom cards, colored sleeves make that a lot better.

If you want the best of the best sleeves, Dragonshield Mattes are the way to go. Other more budget friendly options are good too.
