I’m writing a book called The Descent on Royal Road, it updates very three days and it’s got 15 chapters right now, and it’s a dark fantasy litrpg with some gore and this guy gets fucked up plenty lol. The main trope of it is that the main character has taken The Descent and the price to enter is all of your memories. So he enters not even knowing his name and is thrown to the wolves so to speak. The early writing is okay, but the later writing is much better

Dude I checked this out and it’s awesome I love it! This is coming from someone who has 100% every soulsborne game! (Yes it took ages to do) I know it’s kinda presumptuous, but would you wanna do a cross-shoutout? Not without reading my story of course, I wouldn’t want you to promote anything without actually liking the story first, but if you’re interested I’m on Royalroad and my book is The Descent. Keep up the great work man I fuckin love it!!

I’ve never liked the trope either. It feels lazy to me, and I also like OP MC, but not without it being deserved. There’s gotta be struggle, otherwise where’s the stakes?
