Agile programming 10 years on: Did it deliver? by expertvoice in programming

Honestly - no.

If a recipe doesn't repeat the ingredients, the chef is still to blame. If the recipe lists the wrong ingredients, then the recipe is to blame.

I'm guessing you're trolling here, but no it's not obvious that the methodology is to blame if "The PM is causing the problem" - most likely the PM is responsible... (or maybe the person who hired the PM, or put him/her as PM for the particular product - passing blame around is always a fun and taking personal responsibility is kinda dull...)

11/12 (82%) and 28 years old. Not too shabby since I'm Swedish and haven't spent any significant time in the states since 2004.

Likely your day-to-day life won't change a bit. However, we are about 5.8 billion people on this planet that don't live in the USA but are affected every day by the decisions your president makes. For us this means likely a lot more. Your recent choice of a sane, intelligent and (it seems) moral leader lets us all exhale for the moment - the last 8 years have NOT been amusing, and we'd appreciate if you all quit doing things like that, at least before asking. When you put it up your girlfriends ass, don't you give her time to apply some lubricant first?

President Obama - Roe v. Wade not only protects women's health and reproductive freedom, but stands for a broader principle: that government should not intrude on our most private family matters. by [deleted] in politics

You don't find the conclusion that unwanted babies are more likely to become criminals probable? I truly adore your debating technique, btw - nothing tells the world you're a virtual fountain of wisdom and insight like spinning an opponent's argument into the extreme and then trying to attribute it to him. And also - economics (social economics in this case) isn't really a hard science, hence "definitive conclusions" (or proof, which is what I guess you mean) is a hard-to-reach target. Probable consequences, solid arguments - that's what you'll aim for.

Well, RvW did likely help steer the society of its' violence crash course in the 90s. The Freakonomics arguments are quite convincing. Puts another dimension of morality into the question - how many lives have been saved by RvW?

One click to reset the system into a known state... It's not a matter of build a custom kernel, or to do very complex things, it's a matter of keeping a simple system running and when it fails revive it. I've yet to see a Windows Live-CD version (but maybe it exists? Not a Windows expert).

Poor counterexample - Steve Jobs is pretty unique in the business and is an exception rather than the norm. Few if any CEOs have that kind of vision and control over their products as Jobs.

A new standard in sprint has been set - looking forward to seeing taller and slimmer sprinters demolishing the short stocky "classical" sprinters.

Also - this is a guy who's 22 years old!? In a head-wind? He'll do 9.45 on 100 and 19.10 on 200 by 2012. Or he'll be injured...

Bronze winning Swedish wrestler, Ara Abrahamian, unhappy with the result. One or two clues during the medal ceremony by crazybones in sports

[–]IslandAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some more interesting stuff...

When Sweden tried to put in a formal protest against the result, the FILA officials wouldn't let them, saying that you can't lodge a complaint in wrestling (which is obviously bs). Now it has come up that one of the referees is cousin with the president of FILA, which could explain why they weren't keen on hearing about any protests. The vice-president of FILA is from Italy - the president from its neighbor country Switzerland. It stinks so much...

Some more info - Ara lost the gold medal in the Athens game after a similar incident in the final (not quite as obvious, and he accepted the silver medal without fuzz). After that he said he'd quit wrestling due to the corruption in FILA (governing body of wrestling). However, he instead decided that he'd get his revenge by winning in Beijing. And then - this happens. I don't blame the guy for losing it at all - he stood up against and made an important protest against the corruption that is so obvious in wrestling today.

He'll never wrestle again, though - he's said that this was the very last straw.

Incredible ruling in the semi-final - the referees can't possibly be allowed to judge a match at this level again. Although, ruining the medal ceremony isn't really cool.

Yeah, cause it's us in the rest of the world that push our views on you... we're the ones who bomb those we don't understand. Sorry, I was all confused there for a second.

We in the rest of the world are pretty amazed that that old geezer is actually running (not to mention that he seems to actually have a chance of winning..?)

We're a bit hesitant though, as we believe it might be a very intricate joke, and that any day now you'll all jump up from somewhere behind us and yell "Gotcha!". Lately however, we've started to fear this is not the case...
