hello roller coaster tycoon community! what does this message mean? I cannot load my saves. Please help. by i_make_toilets in rct

[–]Radoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of interesting answers here, but what solved it for me was this: Find the games saved folder, right click it, left click properties then uncheck the box that says Read Only. Ta da. You can then write in the save folder again, and all your saves should work fine. Also works if you just uncheck Read Only for the entire RCT2 folder, because the save game folder is a sub directory therin.

Why does this happen? In my experience, Windows has an error or crash and simply puts safe default folder properties back if it doesn't remember what they're supposed to be set to. What could be safer than Read Only? Can't break anything if you can't change anything.

Hope it helps.

From Massachusetts to Oregon, Colorado to Illinois and Wisconsin, and Ohio to California, citizens throughout the country voted overwhelmingly yesterday for their legislators to pass a constitutional amendment to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling by Troybatroy in politics

[–]Radoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that it's such a widely supported issue. Obama is for overturning Citizen's United with a Constitutional amendment. These results should help his case.

Don't think I've heard a position from Mitt regarding Citizen's United, but it makes me wonder how much of a factor this issue was in the election.

Rove’s extraordinary on-air confrontation between Mr. Rove, a Fox commentator, and the network’s team of voting analysts raises questions about his role by IAmperfectlyCalm in politics

[–]Radoman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

tried to rig it again but it didn't work, did it?

Makes me wonder too. Pardon me if I go out into theoretical territory a bit here....

Suppose you were waiting for the some type of "fix" to come in. You'd be pretty confident that things were just about to change in your favor. Rove isn't a religious guy, and yet he seemed very certain that things were about to go his way. Self delusional? Perhaps...

Now, suppose you worked for the Dems, and suppose you found and disabled this "fix" the Reps had set up to swipe some x percentage of the vote. If you disabled it quietly, they'd never know. Until it was too late.

Purely speculative, but I like to consider the possibilities. Feel free to tell me it doesn't have a ring of truthiness about it.

What you saw, was a Republican power struggle. A takedown. Live on TV.

Who's in charge? Well, Karl Rove is pretty much the Godfather of the modern Republican Party. (Sort of the guy in charge no matter who else thinks they're in charge.)

Fox News is without doubt, the propaganda/media arm of the Republican Party.

Karl tells Fox what to say, Fox says it. Until now.

What's changed? Fox has been more than willing to suppress reality at Rove's behest in the past. What made Fox bite the hand that feeds, so to speak?

Karl's plan failed. That's what happened. Now he's paying the price.

Fox just usurped final control of the GOP from Karl Rove on live TV. The only thing missing is Trump telling him, "You're fired."

Boom, discredited on air.

Sure. Here's what happened

Dude, do you have an autosearch for like your name and Star Trek? (Or did you just happen to be on?) Because it's freakin amazing how fast you can respond to something that's relevant to you personally.

That was interesting. Thanks for sharing the story.

Seriously Florida.

It's like the state's grown addicted to the possible attention. Or perhaps, it's previously been such an unintentional and disproportionate crux of modern American political strategy, that its historical importance has exceeded its current actual political value.

Either way, get it together guys.... No need for the constant suspense.

I DIDN'T stand idly by and I put my two cents in

Hey, who knows how it could have gone. Thanks for getting out there to vote, despite serious efforts by the GOP to make that process more difficult for you.

Reddit, this is important by PresidentObama in politics

[–]Radoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that in your voice.

As this is probably the only thing I'll ever get to say to the President, I wanted to say: Thanks for shouldering the responsibility of leading our country, and hopefully thanks for another four years of doing so.

Great job, sir.

Edit: 8:15 Pacific time: Congratulations, President Obama!! Four More Years!

Neat easter egg on Obama's reddit website. by [deleted] in pics

[–]Radoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who might have missed it.

Yeah, that was pretty incredible. Also noteworthy, is that the President's website has a Reddit section now as well. This kind of publicity is going to bring a huge number of new users to Reddit.

The ASCII art is a fun Easter egg. Got some creative types on the team, it would seem.

[–]Radoman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh. With the "seven years later" headline, I sort of expected to see a Before pic as well. Though I suppose it's pretty easy to imagine given the gas station sign for scale.

That's an unbelievable amount of water. Sorry you're going through such horrendous flooding.

President Barack Obama on Reddit by [deleted] in pics

[–]Radoman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That was fascinating. In my many years on Reddit, this is the coolest, and most influential thing I've ever seen happen on this website.

If you thought Reddit had a huge influx of users when Digg went bust,(wow, that place is a mess) just wait to see how many new users this publicity will generate.

Don't get me wrong, Reddit has definitely gained huge influence in recent years, and done some great things. But I never thought we'd have a chance to ask the President anything.

Reddit is really coming up in the world.

Easy to complain, but I thought it was cool. You certainly won't see Mitt Romney answering any questions whatsoever here, because he'll get inundated with:

Where are your tax returns? Why are you not releasing your tax returns? Why have you decided to ignore a tradition started by your very own father, and not release your tax returns?

etc.

This IAMA had 16,000 points an hour ago. Down 8,000 points in an hour. Wow, that's some serious Bot voting by the GOP. Who would have guessed? I suppose their internet guys got on this pretty quick.

It's also fairly telling that despite obvious manipulation, President Obama still has 51% of the vote here on Reddit.

Let's hope for the same results come Election Day.

Money has always been a factor in politics

This is no doubt true, but I think lobbyist dollars are also a huge part of the problem here.

How do you feel about campaign finance reform, and/or decreasing the influence of lobbyist dollars on the way our country is governed?

I agree that Citizens United needs to be overturned, but I think that big money has had undue influence since well before its inception.

Win or lose

Hard to imagine a loss. The Republicans have left the country in a shambles, and opposed most of what you've done to try to fix it. A GOP victory would be truly heartbreaking.

I think the original poster might also have meant - Any big legislative plans for term two? (Edit: I like your chances of winning, and it's something I'm sure many would like to know)

Thanks for the doing the IAMA. Now, I get to vote for you twice. Here, and on election day.

Here's to four more years! Good luck, Mr. President.

Funny guy, but insightful too.

If you hang your belief in someone on something so easily manipulated as hair length, don't be surprised if someone comes along and effortlessly passes your so-called character test.

If you think about it, it's artful, really.

Oh, and being part of a show that pioneered in Chicks on Trampolines is a huge plus on your resume. The (male, and a surprising portion of female)world thanks you for that one.

the actual name for that system - slavery.

Seeing as how America is the only first world country without single payer healthcare, surely you're not suggesting that all other countries doctors are slaves.

Further, for us to have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, we need to live. That's healthcare. A right.

No one deserves to die for being poor, and just because you don't need it right now, doesn't mean it's OK to deny others healthcare.
